What are you trying to record? If its like a streaming song or file, you can use the built-in write to disk plugin - go to options, preferences, then click OUTPUT. Then select the disk writer plugin. Once this is selected, everything will be saved to the harddisk (as a wav file, I believe - been a while since I used this)

No prob - just remember, when youre done writing to the disk, be sure to go back and change the plugin, otherwise everytime you use winamp, it will write to the disk, even if youre playing an MP3 or something that you have saved locally (Ive made this mistake a few times LOL)
