| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I actually watched the entire show, and there was a question that kept popping in my mind - how the heel do these guys manage to get away with what they are doing? They were showing guys walking with tubs - TUBS filled with envelopes of cash, checks and credit card vouchers all for this one dude, and hes in the background chanting "if youre contrinuting by credit card, be sure to clearly put your accunt number, exp. date, yadda yadda yadda" And there are the people, whipping out the checkbooks! People so simple-minded and having empty lives just pouring their cash to this guy! Anyone notice (if you wyached this far in the program) how these "sermons" were compared to the Nazi pep-rallies? | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | When I was a freshman at Mount St. Michael in the Bronx, they actually took us on a class trip to a faith healer. We were all asked to think of something that we would like "healed" so we could participate. The whole time that I am waiting, I see my classmates go up and have their experiences. There is a person on either side of you so when you get touched by the hand of the lord, they would support you so you don't fall. And one by one my whole group went up, had the priest put his hand on their forehead, have the priest push their head back as they fall and then are told to stay on the ground and compose yourself before you try to get up. So when it was my turn, I walk up to the altar where 15 of my classmates were already laying and wait my turn. First the 2 assistants grab me by the upper arm and the elbow on either side. Then the priest walks up, places his hand on my head, and asks me what I wanted to be healed of. After I tell him, he says a little prayer asking god to rid it from my body, then he trys to shove my head back very hard and very quickly. As he does this the two assistants try to pull me down by the arms. But I'm not going so they line up to give me another prayer. It all happens the same way, but this time they pull down harder so I lay down this time but I get right up after they move to the next person. At the end of the service, the priest explains that there is not as strong a reaction in some people but the lord has blessed those who felt his love today. Which was obviously a move to make those who know they felt nothing either keep quiet or fake that they felt something. The sad thing was that all of these guys that I kind of respected were just so amazed by what happened to them that day and didn't take a minute to really think about what was going on.
