I don't think i am the only one who is pumped to see this so here is some helpful information.

Release Date: August 24th, 2001 (moved back two weeks from August 10th, which would have put it up
against American Pie 2)

Cast: Jason Mewes (Jay), Kevin Smith (Silent Bob), Joey Lauren Adams (Alyssa Jones from Chasing Amy), Ben Affleck (Holden from Chasing Amy, two other new characters), Jules Asner, Diedrich Bader, Jason Biggs (Bluntman), Marc Blucas, George Carlin, Matt Damon (Will Hunting from Good Will Hunting), Shannon Doherty (cameo), Eliza Dushku, Will Ferrell, Shannon Elizabeth, Carrie Fisher (cameo), Mark Hamill, Steve Kmetko, Ali Larter, Jason Lee (Brodie from Mallrats, Banky from Chasing Amy), Tracy Morgan, Alanis Morissette, Judd Nelson, Joe Quesada, Chris Rock (cameo), James Van Der Beek (Chronic), Seann William Scott, Jeff Anderson (Randal from Clerks), Ever Carradine, Dwight Ewell (Hooper X), Renee Humphrey (Trish the Dish), Brian O'Halloran (Dante from Clerks), Scott Mosier, Jennifer Smith, an orangutang.

Cast Definitely Not Returning: Linda Fiorentino (Dogma), Claire Forlani (Mallrats), Salma Hayek (Dogma), Jeremy London (Mallrats) (note: the funny thing here is that News Askew once reported Shannon Doherty definitely wasn't returning...)

Premise: Here's what Kevin Smith recently (7/1/00) said: "There's a dollop of poignancy, and an a**load of belly laughs. Expect no morals or lessons this time around, folks; we're in funny country now." (translate that as "more like Mallrats and less like Chasing Amy")
Whatever it might be, expect this to be set at least partially in Red Bank, NJ. (10/25/00) NewsAskew has added that this is a "road movie." (10/31/00) Also, Randal and Dante from Clerks will serve as "bookends", opening and closing the film. (11/10/00) The road trip includes a stop in Kansas. (1/29/01) An image scooped at AICN reveals that part of the plot deals with a movie version of Bluntman and Chronic (with those roles played by Biggs and Van Der Beek). (3/12/01) The basic concept is that Jay and Silent Bob are on their way from Red Bank, New Jersey, to Hollywood to sabotage the B&C premiere. (3/19/01) The "monkey" is probably the same that appears in the Chasing Dogma comic book TPB (actually an orangutang).

What a cast. It seems like they just gave every actor a role. Except for Jay Mohr

Actually, I may be in the minority, but I have less than zero interest in this movie. I thought Dogma was one of the worst 10 movies I ever saw. Even my wife who loves Matt Damon, has no interest whatsoever in this movie.

Chris Rock is one of my favorite comedians and even he blew in that movie. Mars attacks had a great cast too and that movie sucked ass (Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, Pierce Brosnan, Danny Devito. Michael J Fox, Martin Short, etc.

Nothing personal, I just think it will suck.

I enjoyed how dogma parodied the Bible and hey, Selma Hayek? was a stripper.
I thought Chris Rock was hilarious showing off his skinny black ass.

TeenWeek, give Clerks a chance, then, you might be surprised...that's still my ultimate favorite Smith movie

I thought Dogma was such a well-written movie and the way it covered the Cathlic religion was dead-on...

?'s about this movie: Vanderbeek as Chronic in the Hollywood version of the comic! that's effin hillarious!!! Hey, how did Dante come back to life? LOL (original ending of Clerks)

Hey Hammer,

Thanks for the update I am definitely looking forward to J&S Strike Back. Don't worry about what other people think of "Dogma" or Selma for the true fans of the "Jersey Trilogy" they appreciate the update. Smith is one of my favs out there many newbies think of Dogma and associate his film career to only this and most miss the point. Clerks is F-ing hilarious, Mall Rats is my favorite of them all, Chasing Amy was great on many levels, and Dogma I agree with Spitfire the Catholicism is great in it. Just My opinion

Thanks for the info. I can't wait for "J&SBSB." Hope it's on par with Smith's best. Actually, the only one I really didn't like was "Mallrats."

Anyone get the "Clerks" cartoon on DVD? It's got all six of the episodes and they're hysterical. Damn shame that ABC never gave it a real chance.

Kevin Smith is the greatest...a regular guy...he used to sell me my cigs. and coffee every day at the store he filmed "clerks" at...even let me slide on many late fees at the video store. Everything he's done has made me LMMFAO! I will see anything he makes, and I'm sure I'll like it!

Put me in the no interest club. Clerks was great and Mallrats was very good, but I don't see this flick going anywhere.

Some of the Catholic stuff was funny, but Dogma is one of those movies where the idea sounds good(a parody of religion) but sucked ass big time. See the Life of Brian instead.

Hey Anthony, would you like to make a deal on some Furbys for your girlfriends.

I thought Dogma was a hysterical well made intelligent satire on religion. I loved Clerks entirely and felt Mallrats was grossly underrated since it was a damn funny goofy comedy.

I dunno why people are down talking Kevin Smith flicks. Apparently you aren't fans of cult movies. Granted Smith kinda mainstreamed Chasing Amy and Dogma, but Clerks and Mallrats are 2 movies that are definitely up there on the list of cult classics. I'm totally lookin forward to Jay and SIlent Bob Strike Back.

Best line from that movie:
