Explosion Rocks Israeli City of Netanya Hall Had Structural Flaws - (ABCNEWS.com) JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A bomb exploded near a school in an industrial area of the Israeli coastal city of Netanya on Wednesday, wounding at least two people, an ambulance service spokesman said. A witness, who gave his name as Gil, told Israel Radio that a car bomb had exploded. ``There was a huge explosion. I ran outside and I saw a Mazda (car) cut in half,'' he said. A spokesman for the Magen David Adom ambulance service said the blast occurred across from the ORT vocational school in Netanya's industrial zone. ``We've treated two people, who were slightly wounded,'' the spokesman said. A police spokeswoman said: ``It appears to be a terrorist attack.'' Netanya, previously the target of Palestinian bombers, lies about 25 miles north of Tel Aviv, and is close to the border with the West Bank. The incident followed a Palestinian suicide bombing in the Gaza Strip (news - web sites) Tuesday. The two bombers involved in the attack were killed and two Israeli soldiers were wounded. Two car bombs exploded in Jerusalem early Sunday, wounding four people. It is so ingrained into their core beliefs that they alone should have control of that land that nothing we can do will stop the violence. We should promote it to escalate so that it will end quicker, but just not get involved. I mean, we are talking about Brooklyn.... Nothing we can say or do can really stop it, and we'd be fools to believe that we could. The underlying causes just run too deep, no one remembers their history anymore. It's a shame that there has been so much loss...both sides are right AND wrong. I just don't see a resolution  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Nov. 00 | A little info on the Israeli mindset. As soon as Isreal was formed, all their new Arab neighbors attacked. Isreal fought back with a vengeance, not once, but three times. They held nothing back and even took the entire Sinia Peninsula from Egypt and a lot of other surrounding land. They bought their peace by giving that land back in exchange for treaties. Then they got the bomb. The Isreali's have a very well known policy. Invade Isreal, take over, and the last act of the last standing official will be to set off every atomic bomb and anihalate the middle east. Isreal has maintained a policy of meeting any opposition with overwhelming violence. When a plane was taken over by terrorists, the Isreali response team killed every single one of them at the risk of losing passengers just to send a message to the terrorists. This policy continues today with the helicopter and rocket attacks on Palestinian vehicles and building, and the bulldozing of settlements in response to terrorist attacks. What the Isreali's refuse to understand is that the most dedicated of the Palestinian terrorists care NOTHING about dying for a cause. They believe it's an instant trip to a martyr's paradise. Responding to the Palestininans with violence will NEVER stop the violence like the Israeli's believe it will. Violent deterence will only act to INCREASE the violence.  We're having creative differences. I'm creative, you're different. I see you've set aside this special time to humiliate yourself in public. You sound reasonable...Time to up my medication. You couldn't get a clue during the clue mating season in a field full of horny clues if you smeared your body with clue musk and did the clue mating dance. -Just adding to the NEW new kinder and gentler board | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | Here is the story about the most recent bombing: TEL AVIV (Reuters) - A suspected Palestinian suicide bomber killed at least 17 people and wounded more than 90 when he blew himself up in a crowd of teenagers outside a seaside nightclub in Tel Aviv, police said on Saturday. It was the deadliest bomb attack in Israel for at least four years and the worst since the Palestinians began an uprising against occupation eight months ago after peace talks stalled. The attack increased doubts that Israel would stick to its unilateral cease-fire and prompted President Bush to call on Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to denounce the bombing and "call for an immediate cease-fire." The blast shortly before midnight at the Pacha nightclub, a popular haunt for Russian immigrants, caused carnage. Women wept and young victims lay groaning and being comforted by rescue workers. Pools of blood and severed limbs covered the pavement. Bush and U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan condemned the blast, which Israeli Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer called "one of the most cruel and inhumane terrorist attacks that have ever taken place in Israel." "We were waiting at the entrance to the discotheque and then we heard from our left a huge explosion," said Alex Brodsky, aged 19. "I saw people lying on the floor. Some had no legs, no arms." The bomb was strapped to the attacker and spewed out bullets and nails when he detonated it in a crowd of youngsters waiting outside the club, police said. Police said the bomber had killed himself and at least 17 other people. A radio reporter counted 18 victims of the blast at the morgue. Dozens of people were taken to hospital and doctors said some were in critical condition. There was no immediate claim of responsibility. But the Israeli government was quick to blame the slaughter on Palestinian President Yasser Arafat for failing to join the cease-fire and vowed to avenge the killings. Palestinian parliamentary speaker Ahmed Korei rejected the charge, saying: "We have said time and again that we are against killing civilians, whether they are Israelis or Palestinians." SCENES OF CARNAGE Cars within a 20-meter (yard) radius of the bomb scene were spattered with blood and human flesh, their windows shattered. Bloodied first aid bandages and discarded water bottles lay all around. "I was about to enter and heard the boom. I was thrown back and fell on the ground. Bodies and body parts were all around me," said Rotem, aged 18. Many of the victims had been enjoying a night out on the Jewish Sabbath. After the explosion, a long line of ambulances stood in the road, their lights flashing. "There were people blown apart, limbs strewn everywhere," said Avi, a waiter from a nearby nightclub. Other witnesses spoke of a ball of fire in the middle of the knot of people. Before the blast, at least 450 Palestinians, 91 Israelis and 13 Israeli Arabs had been killed since the Palestinian uprising erupted last September after peace talks became deadlocked. The new deaths would take the overall Israeli death toll to 107. Israeli Internet chatrooms erupted with angry calls for war against the Palestinians. The militant Hamas and Islamic Jihad groups have staged a string of bomb attacks in recent months and vowed to carry out more. Hamas said it had 10 suicide bombers at the ready and so far has claimed responsibility for eight bombings. An Islamic Jihad leader vowed at a rally in the Gaza Strip on Friday to ignore Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's calls for a cease-fire and carry out more attacks. "Go to hell Sharon, you and your state," the leader, Abdallah al-Shami, said. SHARON AND MINISTERS TO DECIDE RESPONSE Israel said Arafat must take some of the blame for failing to halt violence. "The finger is pointing only in one direction and that is the chairman of the Palestinian Authority (Yasser Arafat) and the Palestinian leaders...in their responses to our call for a cease-fire," said Raanan Gissin, a spokesman for Sharon. "Our response will come at a time and place that we will decide," he told CNN television. Sharon was expected to convene a meeting of top ministers on Saturday amid mounting pressure from Israelis to retaliate and abandon his declared cease-fire. It was not clear what impact the blast and his decision would have on his plans to visit France, Belgium and Germany next week. The Palestinians say the declared cease-fire is a propaganda ploy and that Israel is to blame for the violence because of 34 years of occupation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. But Bush said in a written statement: "I condemn in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist attack...there is no justification for senseless attacks against innocent civilians. "I call upon Chairman Arafat to condemn this act and to call for an immediate cease-fire." Annan said he was "horrified" and that the bombing underlined "the urgency of breaking the cycle of violence." "He condemns this indiscriminate terrorist attack in the strongest possible terms," his office said in a statement. The scene at the nightclub was in sharp contrast to the events earlier on Friday in Jerusalem, when the funeral of a senior Palestinian official passed off without major violence. Police stood back as tens of thousands of Palestinians marched through East Jerusalem behind the coffin of Faisal al-Husseini, the top Palestinian official for Jerusalem, turning mourning into an outpouring of defiance against Israeli rule. Palestinians said it was their biggest display of nationalist fervor inside Jerusalem since Israel annexed East Jerusalem after capturing it from Jordan in the 1967 war.
