| Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00  | Hey guys, I don't know if any of my fellow computer people read http://www.fuckedcompany.com. I read it a lot, and it got me wondering if anyone got bit in the ass by the dot com crash. Relay your horror stories here. Personally, I almost did, so I ran and hid at a government contractor, which is stable. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | not me... i'm a mainframe programmer in an insurance company. Talk about stable... mainframe alone is always looking for massochists who are idiotic enough to work in archaic technologies... let alone anyone who wants to work in insurance in the first place. Whatever though... it's all the same shit when it boils down to it, just learning the syntax of other languages. like learning french or italian when you know English. you know what you wanna say, but just not exactly how to say it. Although I don't think I'd work for a dot com (nor did I want to when I was looking for a gig cuz I knew this shit would happen!) I do want to move into the client server world eventually. let me know where I can drop a resume.. i'd appreciate it.

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | I work site support with a big tech company, and I know that myu job is safe, because they design phone systems software and were the originators of most of the phone technology we use today. TOo bad we arent hiring at this point, but if we do start again, I will be sure to post and let you all know about it. for the record. I hate compaq and HP. I love IBM (the T20 and 21 are awesome machines) I also dont hate Dell, the optiplexes are allright, not hard to work on.  | ||||

Hospitals are traditionally 10 years behind current technology, until recently, our swankiest machine was a Compaq Deskpro 2000 with a whole wopping 166mhz of processing power....this is the hell that is my life | ||||
