OK now if i get this right, I will get a $600 check in the mail because I am married? That doesn't make sense, he was only ever talking about married couples with kids, which I have none of. Can someone please explain??

skitch, it has nothing to do with kids. Depending on how much you paid in taxes in year 2000, you will get up to $600 in a rebate check. Probably only millionaires would get he full $600, I don't know.

At least we get some money back.

I don't see why everyone getting so F-ing excited over the tax rebate. If I get anywhere near $300 i'll be SHOCKED. I'm thinking of sending my back to the GOv't as a form of protest.

It's not that much money we're getting. I'll rather have great econmoy than a lower tax rate. Everyone can make more money through a Great Economy than Shaking down the gov't for peanuts.

I heard on the radio that married couples who filed jointly, will receive 600. Heads of household will receive 500. And singles 300.

I figure fuck it, it's free money. :)

Not really free money K1d, its money we made and were forced to give up to them in the first place. While I will not send the money back, I do agree that a stronger economy would make me much happier than a small check would.

So we get tax refunds, and then I have to worry about my company laying me off in cutbacks (the second time this year). Skitch4u, I agree with you. All this does is pacify the masses for a short time.

You know what I'm doing with my refund check? A tank of gas AND I'm going to supersize it.

This tax business is a total load of crap. There's actually a few clauses that directly affect friends/supports of Bush, but no one else...ponderous. GW = the new Jimmy Carter(-the brain)

There are 4 business/groups that are directly helped most by this business...can't remember them right now, but there are only 4 interest groups that are getting big breaks because of it. Its the fewest ever they say...not sure who they are though

While the rebates may suck - you will see less fed. tax taken from your check each week, and the tax % rates will be less come income tax time next year. However, welcome back to Reganomics, and a 4 bazillion dollar deficit in 4 years.

Hey Dick - I mean Fez, yeah we may not pay much in the way of taxes compared to the rest of the world, but the rest of the world also isn't a democracy. Its called socialism, government sponsored health-care. They may pay more in europe, but get more for their taxes. What do we get for out rtax dollars?? Not a god damn thing. We get a fat fuck of a president sitting in an office he didn't win, and he has no idea how to handle. We get a bunch of f'ing morons telling us that giving everyone a couple of dollars to shut them up is better than correcting the problems of a jack ass actor who had no clue what he was doing.

Sorry to vent, but this pisses me off sometimes...

The refund check is to the middleclass lull the middleclass into forgetting that the top 10% will be getting the biggest tax cuts come tax time..

You guys have got it all wrong. You only get a refund check, if you've paid taxes. Here's the catch, "paid taxes" means written a check to the IRS. Withholding taxes, and payroll taxes DO NOT COUNT. All that money taken out of your check does not count, because it assumes that you've already received a tax refund this year, like most people. Only if you owed the IRS money this year, and actually wrote them a check for the extra taxes you've owed will you receive money back.

I'll take my check, but this is going to cause problems later on down the line. Discretionary counter-cyclical fiscal policy has been proven historically not to work, and in the long run cause more problems than it solves

So does the $30 million O&A are rumored to be making include the $300 tax refund? Or is that an extra bonus for them?

Does anyone know if EAF is right on this one?? Not to doubt you, but I thought we would all be getting the money up front now, cause we all know that only the top 1% will get any savings in the future. Just wondering. Thanks
