I'm just saying that the Patriot Missile defense system that was put on (I think) Proxima 6 did Nothing to the onslaught on 5,000 Shadow missile. The Earth was complete defenseless against the Gamilon asteriod bombs that they launched from Pluto. But that was before we had the Reflex Cannon. I say, dig up a WW II Battleship, convert it for space travel and stick a big honking gun in the front. It worked in Crusade and it worked in Star Blazers. Well Crusade was a new ship, but we presently don't have space docks. sorry if Dbl post  220, 221, whatever it takes. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Well, we pumped up government spending in Education in the previous presidency, but Millions if not Billions are completely unaccountable for, possibly embessled. At least this is supporting new technology and pushing our engineering thresholds. The idea is that there is no defense against a missile attack other than a retalitory attack. Hey, maybe the technology that is developed can blow up asteriods in space, if we ever need too. They stopped preparing the Arizona for space flight (very obscure reference). 220, 221, whatever it takes. | ||||

Something that hasn't been so since the 1960s. Most nations will take this as an offensive manuever. And guess what they will get bigger and badder weapons that will defeat it. China currently isn't a threat but by making what seems as offensive military plans then China will begin producing even more weapons that are powerful. Also when you say the world will see this as a offensive system. They don't. China is a current threat to us. We have a pact with Taiwan to defend them. If China attacks Taiwan, we're in it. Neither China or Russia can afford to build bigger and badder weapons without trade from the USA. As a country we can control their income, or we can pay for the weapons that will destroy us. | ||||

Their treaty said to give military assistance to the other in any situation when attacked for 20 years and to have a mutual friendship forever. You would be surprised several european countries consider this offensive. And as for the weapons they can build. They'll see this as open range since the US breaking the ABM treaty then it's ok for them to do the same. And they can because of the WTO. They will have more trade power and can even overturn many us policy decisions because it doesnt allow them to make enough money. That's the WTO rules. Eventually they will make more money to spend on military at the disadvantage of their workers of course which are already being abused. If the US just took a stand in the beginning the situation wouldn't have escalated to this point. With lots of investment they have been able to use it for military purposes. But let's not forget that human rights aren't as important as making lots of money in the eyes of big business.
