God Damn, this thread is a bunch of words.

The two most meaningful posts here are Spits and K1ds original. MLK did have a dream, but he went the wrong way. All black activists go the wrong way generally. Slavery was not so long ago that it is forgotten. It takes time for wounds to heal, for people to be re-educated in the ways of proper thinking. When my grandfather used to tell me (sorry)"watch out for the niggers, they will rob you if they have the chance" and other assorted racial slurs, I learned that and that became fact for me, not due to my intelligence, but do to my ignorance and lack of knowledge in the subject.

You know what, I am not racial, I like all people, but I have prejudices, like all people, and dont tell me that you dont, everyone has some. I hate indian drivers, I hate mexicans who cant speak english, yet have to serve me at stores, I hate Asians that have no idea of what is going on in life, yet can invent electronics that can revolutionize the world, and I hate blacks who think that they are all that matters, and dont give a shit about anyone else. But I respect people who have ideas and are open to understanding what people feel. Malcolm Shabazz was a womanizer and a criminal, until he found Alla (or however you spell it) So by saying that you are a changed man that changes and erases things. Nope, sorry it doesnt. He was one of the biggest racists there was. Just like Farrakon now, they preach that they must rise up and stand as one. Fuck that, the human race must stand as one, and that aint gonna happen for quite some time. Not until we all are dead and our children can grow up in a world where this tension is not known. Know when that is??? Neither do I.

MLK Had a dream, a dream I agree with.

quote:

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

And he was shot for that. What does that say for us as humans. Kinda depressing isnt it?

K1d, Although I'm sure we all sympathize with what all you and your people go through we will never truly understand what it's like to be black because we are not. I see things all the time on subways and on the streets. Women grab onto their purses just a little bit tighter when they see a black man coming, mothers pull their children away like you're gonna sell them crack or something.

Well said.

Walk a mile in my shoes. Then you can tell me that racism in this country is not as bad as it used to be. Strides have been made, changes have happened. But, outright segregation still exists. White men still have a leg up on the rest of the country. The barriers are eminent but not impenetrable.

quote:

150 years ago (err.... 7 score and 10, keeping with the theme) black people, who may or may not have been your direct relatives (do you actually know?), were kept as slaves.

Actually, my grandparents, on my father's side, grew up in Mississippi and Tennessee in the early 30's. They were, in fact, direct descendants of slaves. They told stories of picking cotton, stories of true racism. If I learned one thing from my grandparents it's that people are people. When my father and my mother were married, my father's parents embraced my mother, while her own parents all but disowned her. When my parents were dating, my mother often had to hide duck down in the car to avoid being harassed by disapproving town folk.

In my life I have been exposed to many different people in many different parts of this country. I experience racism at the hand of the KKK in Texas. I endured undue empathy in Missouri. I've been patronized. I've been degraded. I've been commended. I've been "profiled". I don't hold my race as a crutch, it's just a fact of life. Some people have blonde hair, others have brown. I have black (well brown really) skin. It's an unavoidable fact.

So instead of rising above racism, you'd rather perpetuate it.

Doing "your people" a real favor there, bud.

*(I use "your people" in quotes because I could give a fuck whose people are whose, but I'll use the terms that are used by the racists if that's what it takes to get something across.)

Sometimes I wonder how tough it is being a Jew in white america, and also in terms of a religiously intolerant and precarious middle east...but then I remember I'm just a middle-class young man, living in the surburbs of NY...and don't know as much as I think.

I tend not to carry my baggage with me where-ever I go, b/c in the end, they are heavy bags. And I find, as I walk through life, that it's very easy to get dug in, sinking deeper and deeper into the ground as I go. But, the trick is not to blame the ground, nor the shoes, not even the walk itself...but realize it is the bags your carrying that does the most damage.

Here's my contribution

Whitey on the Moon

A rat done bit my sister Nell.
(with Whitey on the moon)
Her face and arms began to swell.
(and Whitey's on the moon)
I can't pay no doctor bill.
(but Whitey's on the moon)
Ten years from now I'll be payin' still.
(while Whitey's on the moon)
The man jus' upped my rent las' night.
('cause Whitey's on the moon)
No hot water, no toilets, no lights.
(but Whitey's on the moon)
I wonder why he's uppi' me?
('cause Whitey's on the moon?)
I wuz already payin' 'im fifty a week.
(with Whitey on the moon)
Taxes takin' my whole damn check,
Junkies makin' me a nervous wreck,
The price of food is goin' up,
An' as if all that shit wuzn't enough:
A rat done bit my sister Nell.
(with Whitey on the moon)
Her face an' arm began to swell.
(but Whitey's on the moon)
Was all that money I made las' year
(for Whitey on the moon?)
How come there ain't no money here?
(Hmm! Whitey's on the moon)
Y'know I jus' 'bout had my fill
(of Whitey on the moon)
I think I'll sen' these doctor bills,
Airmail special
(to Whitey on the moon)

Verse One:

Could you tell me who released our animal instinct?
Got the white man sittin' there tickled pink.
Laughin' at us on the avenue
Bustin' caps at each other after havin' brew
We can't enjoy ourselves
Too busy jealous... Of each other's wealth
Commin' up is just in me
But the Black community is full of envy
Too much back-stabbin'
While I look up the street I see all the japs grabbin'
Every vacant lot in my neighborhood
Build a store, and sell their goods
To the county of sips (?)
You know us po niggas: nappy hair and big lips?
Four or five babies on your crotch
And you expect Uncle Sam to help us out?
We ain't nothin' but porchmonkeys
To the average bigot, redneck honky
You say comin' up is a must
But before we can come up, take a look at US

Verse Two:

And all y'all dope-dealers...
Your as bad as the po-lice- cause ya kill us
You got rich when you started slangin' dope
But you ain't built us a supermarket
So when can spend our money with the blacks
Too busy buyin' gold an' Caddilacs
That's what ya doin' with the money that ya raisin'
Exploitin' us like the Caucasians did
For 400 years - I got 400 tears- for 400 peers
Died last year from gang-related crimes
That's why I got gang-related rhymes
But when I do a show ta kick some facts
Us Blacks don't know how ta act
Sometimes I believe the hype, man
We're messin' up ourselves and blame the white man
But don't point the finger you jiggaboo
Take a look at yourself ya dumb nigga you
Pretty soon hip-hop won't be so nice
No Ice Cube, just Vannilla Ice
And yall sit and scream and cus
But there's no one ta blame- but US

Verse Three:

US ... will always sing the blues
'Cause all we care about is hairstyles and tennis shoes
But if ya step on mine ya pushed a button
"Cause I'll beat you down like it ain't nothin'
Just like a beast
But I'm the first nigga ta holler out {PEACE, BLACK MAN}
I beat my wife and children to a pulp
When I get drunk and smoke dope
Got a bad heart condition
Still eat hog-mogs an' chitlin's
Bet my money on the dice and the horses
Jobless, so I'm a hope for the armed forces
Go to church but they tease us
Wit' a picture of a blue-eyed Jesus
They used to call me Negro
After all this time I'm still bustin up the chiffarobe
No respect and didn't know it
And I'm havin' more babies than I really can afford
In jail 'cause I can't pay the mother
Held back in life because of my color
Now this is just a little summary
Of US, but yall think it's dumb of me
To put a mirror to ya face, but trust
Nobody gives a fuck about...

I believe that black people are often our own worst enemy with regards to racism. I try not to portray myself as a "nigger", but as a human being. I am black, I bear the consequences that go along with it. I try to overcome them by being a decent human being, and respecting those who respect me. I don't go out of my way to impune others based on their race, and I should hope that they would do the same.

Newsflash : THE HUMAN SPECIES IS FUNDAMENTALY FLAWED

Yeah, that's right. We as a species are capable of envision incredible IDEALS of how we should live and treat each other. From the Bible to the U.S. Constitution to Dr. King's inspiring speach on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, peole have put into words an incredible IDEAL of what life should be like and how we should treat each other.

But, humanity will NEVER EVER reach that ideal. We, as a species, are incapable of living up to our own ideals. From the institutionalization of religion, to the two party system, to careless commments made in jest, we continue to fall short of our ideals and ALWAYS WILL!

That doesn't mean we stop trying, it means we try harder, knowing that journey is more important than the destination we will never reach.

I don't think that anyone here dislikes me because of the color of my skin. I KNOW that people IRL dislike me because of the color of my skin. People whom have never spoken to me, but shoot evil looks at me, or clutch their belongings as I walk by, are judging me solely on the color of my skin. I don't think I'm a menacing person at all. In fact, I feel that I have more of a docile appearance.

Artist: Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Album: BTNResurrection
Song: Weed Song
Typed by: wyney@hotmail.com, Problem_child_2000_us@yahoo.com

[Krayzie Bone]

I been high since the last song (off that la, la, la, la, la, la, la)
And i just been smokin' and smokin'
Smoke another blunt, roll another up
You know that weed can really ease your mind
Every time I smoke good reefer that indo high makes me fly
If everyboby smoked a blunt, relieve the mind, the world could
be a better place
If everybody took a break and we all just got wasted
Toked out (out, out out), smoked out (out, out, out),
choked out (out, out, out), pull another O (out, out, out)
Let's get P-O-D-ded (P-O-D-ded, P-O-D-ded)

[Chorus]
[Bizzy Bone]
The weed can't get no better (no better baby)

[Bizzy Bone]
20 dollar hollars, all day, everyday
Come around my way, you gone want to stay
Weed makes me hungry, happy, and all I can say
Sure I need some more
Don't make we wait, stay awake, fake sleep,
got the weed between the sheets
Catch me, Mary J. blessed me
Open up the dime, stimulate your mind, slide my thumb up the blunt
Open up and what you'll find in there (you don't really want)
I never been in High Times (I never been in High Yimes)
I never been in High Times
but can you tell me that I've been so high all my life
Am I high enough (am I high enough)
Am I high enough (am I high enough)

[Wish Bone]
I remeber being a little thug
Weed, really didn't know what it was
Then I took a puff and I realized
I should always, stay high
The weed (the weed), makes me feel alright (alright)
If you feel like i feel, I got half on yo dime
If you got weed smoke it, I'm a real weed smoker
If it's mine then I would
since its yours you could, you should
If I ain't there when you blaze a blunt nigga huh, please think of me
Cuz you know I nigga like to get high (high), high and free
Smokin' all night, feelin' all right
Bone Thugs get high, so high
High, high, all night, high, high
So high

[Flesh-N-Bone]
Oh my, oh my, oh my, oh my my my my
I know you wonder why I do it. Love the sky
And I soar up so high
This mornin' I was in my bed
Bangin' and ringin' inside my head
I wanted to make love to you baby, but last night I got P-O-Ded instead
So please don't go away, that's all I got to say
Is I gotta have you mary j
Such a heavenly feelin' I get when i'm taking fat ass blunts to the brain
Oh darlin' I'm goin insane, and I really wish we can
Kick it at home in America, like it was on in amsterdam
You heard enough, you heard it all, nothin' but a, a really thug nigga
Nothin' less than a killa, I'm out in front makin' my scrilla
I'm happy to know , the slide is the ball, and kick as strong as me
You rippin' the bone like me, can get it as long as me

[Layzie Bone]
And when I need to free my mind
I can find, satisfaction in a bag of weed
Everything I need, leave it to the trees
It can make me feel better, and every day I wake
Niggas rollin' up blunts, and mo blunts, and mo blunts
And I keep a case of Swisher Sweets in the trunk
So when I'm rollin', smokin', chokin', just floatin'
Through the city in my drop top
Glock cocked, rollin', just rollin'
Me and mary jane
Its my world, its my thang
The way she penetrates my brain
Buddah, done blessed me with game
Good game, you wanna chop it up,
we can kick it, smoke a fatty to the dome
Nigga lay high, thugged out, smokin', all, night, long

Chorus til fade

You know us po niggas: nappy hair and big lips?

WAR AND PEACE by Leo Tolstoy
BOOK ONE: 1805
CHAPTER I

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Well, Prince, so Genoa and Lucca are now just family estates of the Buonapartes. But I warn you, if you don't tell me that this means war, if you still try to defend the infamies and horrors perpetrated by that Antichrist- I really believe he is Antichrist- I will have nothing more to do with you and you are no longer my friend, no longer my 'faithful slave,' as you call yourself! But how do you do? I see I have frightened you- sit down and tell me all the news."

It was in July, 1805, and the speaker was the well-known Anna Pavlovna Scherer, maid of honor and favorite of the Empress Marya Fedorovna. With these words she greeted Prince Vasili Kuragin, a man of high rank and importance, who was the first to arrive at her reception. Anna Pavlovna had had a cough for some days. She was, as she said, suffering from la grippe; grippe being then a new word in St. Petersburg, used only by the elite.

All her invitations without exception, written in French, and delivered by a scarlet-liveried footman that morning, ran as follows:

"If you have nothing better to do, Count [or Prince], and if the prospect of spending an evening with a poor invalid is not too terrible, I shall be very charmed to see you tonight between 7 and 10- Annette Scherer."

"Heavens! what a virulent attack!" replied the prince, not in the least disconcerted by this reception. He had just entered, wearing an embroidered court uniform, knee breeches, and shoes, and had stars on his breast and a serene expression on his flat face. He spoke in that refined French in which our grandfathers not only spoke but thought, and with the gentle, patronizing intonation natural to a man of importance who had grown old in society and at court. He went up to Anna Pavlovna, kissed her hand, presenting to her his bald, scented, and shining head, and complacently seated himself on the sofa.

"First of all, dear friend, tell me how you are. Set your friend's mind at rest," said he without altering his tone, beneath the politeness and affected sympathy of which indifference and even irony could be discerned.

"Can one be well while suffering morally? Can one be calm in times like these if one has any feeling?" said Anna Pavlovna. "You are staying the whole evening, I hope?"

"And the fete at the English ambassador's? Today is Wednesday. I must put in an appearance there," said the prince. "My daughter is coming for me to take me there."

"I thought today's fete had been canceled. I confess all these festivities and fireworks are becoming wearisome."

"If they had known that you wished it, the entertainment would have been put off," said the prince, who, like a wound-up clock, by force of habit said things he did not even wish to be believed.

"Don't tease! Well, and what has been decided about Novosiltsev's dispatch? You know everything."

gotta live up to my rep...

Love is but a song we sing
And fear's the way we die.
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry.
Though the bird is on the wing
And you may not know why.

C'mon people now
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try to love one another right now

Some will come and some will go
And we shall surely pass.
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last.
We are but a moment's sunlight
Fading in the grass.

C'mon people now
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try to love one another right now

If you hear the song we sing
You will understand.
You hold the key to love and fear
In your trembling hand.
Just one key unlocks them both
It's there at your command

C'mon people now
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try to love one another right now

Hey, will the world turn upon me
Will the soul survive ultimately

Umm, well, ever since I was a kid, you people have been like a family to me. Louis, we built our first fort together. And Danny, remember when we used to burn ants with a magnifying glass? hahaha.. R.T., I lost my virginity to your daughter for cryin out loud! Rob, you were there.
Anyway, I just want you to know that as long as I'm around, I'm gonna bust my butt to make sure that every last one of ya always has a job, right here at Callahan.
