At 8 pm tonight, Sunday the 5th Comedy Central is showing Office Space. Though it will be edited it might not be edited down that badly and I know a lot of you swear by this underrated 1999 gem.

The narrator in Fight Club is the man we will be, Patrick Bateman in American Psycho is
the man we want to be

Oh, great movie! But it makes me dread entering the real workforce after I graduate. The movie kind of reminds me of Kafka's "Metamorphasis" in that the guy's life is shit in the begining, but he is forced to go to work like a slave at the expense of his own personal happiness.

Yeah, they'll proabably cut alot of curse words out, especially in the rapsongs played. Great soundtrack by the way. Love the Geto Boys.

That movie rocks. It will be heavily edited but it's probably still worth a watch if for nothing else than to see how badly edited it is (hopefully not as bad as Mallrats). While the actual office stuff reminds me of my summer job my last two years of college, I currently work with two guys who are exact clones of Lumberg and Milton. It's pretty frightening. "That's my stapler".

-------------------
But there's also this: there are over 5,000 men in this city, who know that being a policeman is an endless, glamourless, thankless job that's gotta be done.

I know it, too, and I'm damn glad to be one of them."

Normally, I get pissed when I hear a movie I already have on disc is gonna be re-released as an SE, but this movie really needs the SE treatment. I can just imagine all deleted scenes and outtakes that will be included.

IRI, you get 2 points for making an incredibly bizarre, unnessecary analogy. Does the main character become a huge roach at the end? That's like relating "Wayne's World" to James Joyce's Ulysees (NO i never actually read it) because they both have people in them.
Didn't mean to tool on ya, it just gets under my skin when people throw literature around like that. I get flashbacks of my humanities teacher senior year of h.s. who did that all the freakin' time just to let people know he's read a book. Funny thing is, we found a whole bunch of cliff notes in his desk once.

"That was an oedipal moment! Oedipus Rex? READ A BOOK!"

Actually to be fair to IRI I have heard people say that the early parts of Office Space were Kafka-esque. I'm not saying it's a remake of the Metamorphosis but the atmosphere kind of had it. To me when I think about Kafka esque I think The Trial more than Metamorphosis.

Like I said, it's nuthin' personal, it just gets my goat. I've never actually read anything by Kafka (no pictures), it just seemed pretentious. I'm a small, bitter man...

Yes, alot of critics and such have compared "Office Space" to Kafka so it was a fair analogy.

EDIT: From Roger Ebert's Review: "Mike Judge's ``Office Space'' is a comic cry of rage against the nightmare of modern office life. It has many of the same complaints as ``Dilbert'' and the movie ``Clockwatchers'' and, for that matter, the works of Kafka and the Book of Job. "

Sometimes, not often, but sometimes, I like the idea of a chick with a horse.

I always thought the movie was more than a bit over-rated. It was good for a few chuckles, but I don't think it's nearly as hilarious as people always make it out to be.

I hate movies on TV that are butchered to death by editing.

Don't you think there's a Milton at everyone's job. In almost all of my jobs I've encountered one person who nearly acts like him!

And I can't wait for the SE DVD! Now they should also give Halfbaked the SE treatment! I wonder if they will have Dave Chapelle's and Jim Breuer's outtakes?

Froy, we're all entitled to our opinions but fuck off. Office Space is hysterical. In all seriousness though, I've heard that comment before. Oh well, it's better than saying that the movie completely sucks like the hot chick at work seems to believe.

At least they just edited out the swears and didn't dub other words in there. Nothing kills a cool movie like that. We could do without the nimrods "hosting" the thing though.

Mike, I was just kidding. I've been in Office Space defense mode for weeks now though so I just used instinct on that one. The Goonies is pretty cool too although it's sort of lost its luster since I first saw it in the theaters when I was like 8.

I was the only one in my shitty apartment that liked "Office Space" when we rented it one lonely hot summer nite. I still like it too.

I especially enjoy the part with the buttons and the waitoring part in that chilis/tgiFridays-esque place. God I hate those cheery bastards.

My favorite part is when they're putting the program into the computer and how it's filmed in slow motion with the copying and exchanging of discs and the perfect "snapshots" of the hands exchanging discs and the faces of the guys like the FBI is watching them .

Meanwhile I'm watching The Chris Wylde Show and maybe it's just me but this show is so mind numbingly bad that it gives badness a new name. Well at least I know for a fact Dave Attell is funny.

By the way (since CC is showing commercials of it nonstop) does anyone appreciate the irony that the movie "Bubble Boy" was filmed as a comedy and will be less funny than the drama "Boy in the Plastic Bubble?"
