I don't know how many people got fucked with this virus but I did.

If you got hit with this new worm virus here is how to get rid of it.
1.Worm Remover Application Download this to any file .

2. close all programs running on you desktop . (Make sure you not connected to the internet) And if you on a network , disconnect from it.

3. open the file and hit start . It scans your hard drive for it. After it scans it it will tell you if you were invected or not. If you were invected it delets it off your hard drive. And you safe again.

If anyone has any questions you can E-Mail Me

I just saw this new worm virus on the news.. they said only Windows NT users are susceptable, then again that doesnt necessarily mkae it true... viruses have been know to mutate (some are programmed to do so)

MORE IMPORTANT:

This fix is NOT for CODE RED.

This fix is for a virus called W32.Sircam.Worm@mm - they are two VERY different viruses.

The Sircam worm can be dangerous, and can delete everything. Read about the virus and its exact payload HERE.

The Code Red virus that has been circulating recently affects ONLY computers running Windows NT or 2000 with Internet Information Server (IIS) installed. Its intended target is web servers. If you don't have IIS, you are safe from Code Red, but Sircam comes through email.

Ok, what is the exact name of the virus... what was the file called if you recieved it by email, and why aren't you directing people to Nortons and/or McAfee sites where all the info and the virus fix can be found?

I personally would not d/l a virus patch from an unknown source, when it is readily available for free on a commercial virus protection site.

***EDIT*** Thanks FTL, for clearing that up...

Does the Sircam virus mess with Windows NT or 2000? I read "no", is there any new updates that says otherwise?

The name of his utility, "FixSirc.com" is what reminded me of where I'd seen it. I try to keep up on new viruses, considering I'm the one who has to identify and remove them at work. :)

NJD's fix should be valid, but to be safe I'd say follow the link in my post - that brings you to the Symantec Antivirus Research Center site (Symantec makes Norton AntiVirus). Their fix has the same name.... I assume NJD's is the same fix but I suppose one can never be 100% sure unless they get it from the true source.

The SARC description should be up-to-date, and in it they say that due to a bug in the virus, it does not affect NT/2000. I'm sure if they found a variant of the virus that fixed the bug, they'd put it up there. They're usually on top of this stuff FAST.

Well before I knew it was a virus, I d/l'ed it (it was something like 156kb)... scanned it with McAfee...updated my DATS... Scanned again... Then I opened using notepad (it was blank)...opened with wordpad (still blank) That is when I noticed the file was at (0 bytes)... both times it said it did not find infected files... afterwards I found out it was a virus... checked McAfees site it had the minimum engine/dats which I was up to date on. McAfee did pop up after that and say I had a Temporary Internet file that was affected and that "cleaner was unavailable or unable to access file" Could I have infected my computer by opening a batch file in Notepad, since that is the way batch files are edited in the first place? Also, what happened to the 156KB's of data? I even tried to find the Temp Internet file, it was gone.

I have windows 2000, so I am not overly concerned, just wondering if I should run the fix just to be safe.

Logic:
I got that from Symantec Antivirus Research Center site . I got nailed with the virus , I was just passing the word around just in case someone else got fucked with it too. The one good thing is that I didn't loose anything on my hard drive.
