The More You Know, The Farther You Go

In masturbation, as with any other creative skill, I feel that "the more you know, the farther you go." The cutting-edge of brain research and studies of the nervous system reveal that learning and memory are not only centralized in the brain but also occur in other parts of the body where there are abundant nerve cells. For example, with practice some of the ability to play a musical instrument, draw a picture, or enter on a keyboard actually gets encoded into your fingers' nerves. This information, combined with my own experience, suggests that a creative practice of masturbation can not only train your hands, but possibly your penis can "learn" to provide you with increasing levels of pleasure.

With that possibility in mind, guys, let's get down to some specific masturbation strokes worth practicing. Once you have an erection at the beginning of a masturbation session, it's often worthwhile to fully activate the sensitivity of the pleasure receptors of your penis. I suggest using one hand to pull the skin of the shaft downward at the base, down toward your pubic hair. This tightens up the skin of the upper shaft and head and makes more nerves in the surface skin available for pleasurable touch. First use the other hand to squeeze the shaft firmly, working from the base to the head and back, waking up the inner tissues. Then stroke lightly upward along the shaft and off the head for a while. Next, clasp your penis head in your fingertips, squeezing and tugging it gently. This should make you aware that while the entire surface of your penis is quite sensitive, the underside of the shaft and the entire head are especially rich in pleasure nerves.

Next you might want to explore the exquisite sensitivity of the frenulum, that special site on the underside of the head. If you're uncircumcised, this fold of tissue connects from below the urethral opening to the foreskin on the underside of the shaft. In that case, first try these exercises with the foreskin rolled back down the shaft. Many circumcised guys, like me, find a little fold or ridge of skin remaining where the head meets the shaft — a spot that can be stimulated to generate deep and powerful pleasure. I suggest beginning dry, without lube, to experiment with the amount of friction and pressure that works best for you. Later on, lubrication can be used to enhance the sensation and to protect your penis from chafing during longer sessions.

Several JackinWorld techniques involve deliberate stimulation of the frenulum, but I'd like to go into a bit more detail here. Some of these sensations may seem fairly subdued at first, but working with them in a relaxed and patient manner can prove extremely rewarding and contribute to powerful orgasms. To start, keep the shaft skin pulled down tight with one hand, while using the other hand to perform the "finger-triggering" I described last time. Circle the head with a forefinger and thumb, and then use the next finger to rub tiny strokes at the frenulum. After practicing this a bit, you might want to examine this region carefully. Try gently pinching the ridge or fold of skin at the underside between two fingertips, twiddling it back and forth, which should also feel very good. If there's enough skin, try carefully pulling it outward from the underside of the head; the tension at the point where it meets the head and shaft can also generate wonderful sensations. You may want to fine-tune these sensations by using both hands directly on your penis. Clasp the head from the end in your fingertips, placing your middle finger directly on the underside. With the other hand, try gently tugging the skin at the middle of the shaft downward away from the head . Also use the middle finger of the first hand to tug upward on the frenulum and circle there — experiment with various rhythms and tempos!

Here's another technique I especially enjoy: the "Butterfly" stroke. This works best while lying comfortably on your back, legs spread wide, with your head raised slightly on a pillow. Enclose your scrotum in one hand and carefully pull your testicles away from your body. Place the fingers of the other hand onto the upper shaft of your penis, from the end. Cup the palm over the head without touching it, fingertips all around on the shaft skin. Now twist the shaft skin around, back and forth, just below the head. Gently but firmly pull your scrotum and shaft in opposite directions. Once you get this going, draw your knees up toward your chest with legs folded. While continuing the strokes with your hand, begin slowly spreading your knees wider apart and bringing them back together, like a butterfly flexing its wings atop a flower. This feels particularly good as the tendons of your inner thighs stretch and pull against the base of your penis. The pleasure will radiate up and down your legs and torso as you continue. It also helps to alternate the hands performing each task. Try rotating your feet on your ankles while doing this, pointing your toes and then stretching your feet back the other way, back and forth. Continue with other favorite strokes to your penis. Exploring these variations of the Butterfly "flapping your wings" should keep you airborne for quite a while.

Later on, aspects of the Butterfly can be incorporated into masturbation while standing or even dancing, which I also encourage. Plus, the frenulum strokes, of which there are many more, can be further explored using lubrication.

When you're ready to ejaculate, if you have sufficient privacy, vocalize and make any kind of sounds you want to express the intensity of your sensations. Because masturbation has often been so furtively practiced, many of us males have trained ourselves to be quiet during pleasurable intervals. Personally, I've been making more noise than ever lately when I masturbate — sighing, moaning, groaning, even growling, roaring, and shouting when the pleasure gets intense.
