I've got some home movies (wink wink nudge nudge) that I would like to convert to Video CD's to play in my DVD Player which can play Video CD's. Now I tried using Adaptec's Video CD creator, but as far as I can tell all it does is burn 5 folders, and about 4 files to the disc, none of which are my actual movie. How can I make my VCD's work?

Try using Nero. It cost about 40 bucks but you could get it for free with the help of serial number websites which are highly illegal and I wouldn't condone it ;). It has an option for video cds in the wizard when you start it up.

jeez man I can't figure this out

Evidently I need to convert an ASF into a MPG - then I need to convert the MPG into a VCD MPG - then I need to burn the VCD MPG onto a cd using the Adaptec VCD creator

is this right?
I downloaded a F1 race. It came in two 100mb ASF files. So first I must convert both these ASFs into MPGs and then use a MPG joiner to join them. Then I need to conver the 1 big mpg into a VCD MPG. And then I burn it to a cd using the adaptec vcd creator.

????

Just a quick update...I figured it out. That vcdhelp.com site is great. I actually stumbled upon it before I saw your reply. The key is CD-RW's. It appears as if most DVD players do not like CD-R, but rather CD-RW's. But do go to that site and you can see what your dvd player will play.
