| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00  | I installed a new DVD drive in my comp. It's set to master on IDE 0 with a CD-RW installed on IDE 1. Windows will not recognize the new DVD drive (disabled in Device Manager and can not enable), but Primary IDE controller comes up fine in Device Manager. What's going on here? How can I get my DVD enabled  You're not gonna take my hair and plant an evil Dewey are you? | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | heres a dumb question, but its worth a shot - did you make sure you set the cd-rw as "slave" via physically moving the jumper on the rear of the drive? Also, what brand is it, if I may ask? I have a TDK, and the install was the most painless experience I have ever had on my machine. SSome of the shittier drives prove to be a bitch, thats why I ask. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | It's a pioneer drive. There used to be a DVD drive in there, but it sucked ass (NEC piece of shit). So I took the pioneer out an old pc to put it in the new one. The CD-RW is set to slave, but I will double check that You're not gonna take my hair and plant an evil Dewey are you? | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Ok, another question - did you remove the old NEC drive BEFORE you slapped the Pioneer in? If the NEC drive is still isted in Device manager, thats probably the issue. Unless its a motherboard issue (which I doubt), I'm somewhat stumped.
