If the Y2J and Rock segment was the big surprise tonight then I feel let down.

Although....knocking the peoples eyebrough off would have been a plus.

This is no suprise. The Rock or Y2J turning heel has been rumored for a while so in terms of that I don't think it was a surprise. But I don't think the WWF is sure if they really want to turn either of them into heel. If they do they would have made one flat out turn on the other. I think they want to explore how the fan reacts to Y2J against the ROCK before making him a heel. For now Y2J is still a Face. Looking at the Y2k and Rock promo together against Stephanie, I think they like the segment and want to explore Y2j against the rock. I think this is a fued that will be played on the MIC by the two WWF mic masters.

I felt let down too. They could have done better.
I will love to see the ROCK turn HEEL!

rocky has been a fan-fav too long, when hes was the corporate champ i actually liked him, and when Y2J broke into the wwf,as a heel, he was one of my fav wrestlers,if rock and y2j meet at no mercy, then probably steph comes to the ring and helps y2j win, this could set up a return feud for HHH with jericho, yay austin won oh hell yeah :)

It's still cool. The event itself wasnt a surprise, but there was just something about the way Y2J went after Rock that was cool. Hopefully, Jericho can finally win the WCW title belt! Its also a way to "make Jericho the man" without having to get involved in the Austin/Angle thing that's going on. I thought it was weird that Shane brought that up in the first place, maybe it shows that's what they're hoping for him.

Don't forget when Y2J debuted on RAW he interupted the Rock cutting a promo in the ring and they rocked RAW that night back a few years ago. But they barely ever touched it again, it was what i thpought something that could have turned into probably one of the greatest fueds of all time. Imagine rock and jericho cutting promos against eachother? That alone is worth it. Remember the rock and jericho cutting a promo together against shame and booker a month or so ago? That was the best promo cut the entire year. They are tailor made for eachother but turning the rock heel would be best, rock is probably the best heel out there besides HHH. But you can't turn the rock heel while stone cold is still heel.

I don't care which one turns because they are both excellent heels. I just want Y2J to fianlly win one of the Big title's, and not have it taken away like HHH did.

I think some of the best heel work in recent memory was Jericho's "conspiracy victim" character he played in WCW before he hit the glass ceiling. I'm usually not in favor of rehashing old angles, but if anything could work now, that could. Only difference would be, instead of feuding with Malenko for the Cruiserweight title, he'd be feuding with The Rock for the Heavyweight title. Well, there'd be other differences, but you know what I mean...

Now, if they could get Jericho out of that in-ring funk he's been in for the past few months, it'd be all good. After his tag-title run with Benoit, he's done NOTHING of interest, and has been extremely lazy. Hopefully, a heel turn would light a fire under his ass, because being RVD's personal jobber sure hasn't.

From SmackDown Spoilers 10-18-01
quote:

The Y2J countdown brought the sold-out crowd to its feet as the show kicked off, and Chris Jericho headed to the ring to a monstrous ovation! Jericho -- who faces The Rock for the WCW Title this Sunday at No Mercy -- said that he'd been hearing a lot of unflattering things about himself over the past few weeks, including that he was a choke artist, that he wasn't a big-time player, and that he couldn't win the big one. He said those people were absolutely right, saying that in his years in sports-entertainment, he had never held the World Wrestling Federation or WCW Championships. He said that he would get retribution this Sunday at No Mercy, and that all the naysayers could kiss his ass!
As Jericho continued to talk, out came Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, who mocked Y2J on her way to the ring, even asking him to please shut the hell up, and welcoming the fans to "SmackDown! is Stephanie!" She said that the whole "interrupting" thing Jericho did was actually kinda fun. Stephanie then poked fun at Jericho for always losing the big match. She said it was a tough decision who to root for in his match against The Rock, but she said she would go with the lesser of two evils, and would root for Rock to clean Jericho's clock at No Mercy! She said that although she and Rock hadn't always gotten along, she knew that if he was at SmackDown!
he would come out and thank her for her support.
It didn't take long for Rock's music to hit, and out came the WCW Champion! Rock told Stephanie that she was looking quite gigantic, and then as he continued to talk, Stephanie cut him off. She said that Rock shouldn't take his frustration out on her -- he should instead do it on Jericho! She said that since Y2J came into the Federation, he had been against The Rock. Stephanie then played footage of Jericho's debut in August 1999, when he interrupted The Rock during an interview and tore into the People's Champion.
Stephanie said that Y2J was jealous of Rock, and that Rock shouldn't trust Jericho, because he would screw Rock the first chance he got. Rock said he appreciated her concern, and that if anyone knew anything about screwing, it was her. Y2J said it surprised him that Stephanie wasn't cheering for him, because you can't spell Jericho without using the letters "H" and "O." Rocky said he wanted Stephanie's support, and said that if he had as much support as her push-up bra gave to her "big phony funbags," then he would be unstoppable! Y2J said that speaking of Stephanie's funbags ... but Stephanie cut him off, and screamed that she hated both Jericho and Rock! Stephanie then stomped back to the locker room in tears, as Y2J said, "thanks for the mammaries!"
That left Rock and Jericho in the ring. Y2J asked Rock if Rock had anything to say to him, and when Rock asked what, Jericho brought up that Rock had given him a Rock Bottom on RAW. Rock said he had given Jericho a Rock Bottom because the People's Champion had told Jericho to stay out of his way, and as usual, Jericho had failed. Y2J said he'd gotten in Rock's way to save Rock's title. Rock said that later in the night on RAW, he had saved Jericho's ass. Jericho said Rock had better worry about saving his own ass this Sunday. Rock said he was in no danger of losing his title this Sunday, saying that there was a reason why people said that Jericho couldn't win the big one. Rock said that the No. 1 reason was because Jericho wasn't that good. Jericho then began to tell Rock that after this Sunday, he would never, ever see the WCW Title again, but Rock delivered the line himself! Then, as Rock went to keep speaking, Jericho held his hand up, right in Rock's face!
Rock took off his sunglasses and stepped away from Jericho's hand, just to have Jericho again move his hand in front of Rock's face. Jericho then motioned for Rock to just bring it, and an enraged Rock gave Y2J a Rock Bottom!

The war of words have started. I knew this would be a fun angle. This match up is all about the promos... I can't wait till 8:00pm. Sounds like fun

Yes it was. I think the WWF is trying to pull this angle off with out either of them turning heel. Or they cannot decide which one of them should turn heel.

Why does one of them have to turn heel??? The WWF would be wise to leave it as it is, just 2 popular guys who don't like each other. Why turn it into a "good vs. evil" match. This is awesome just as it is, even if it is settled after just 1 PPV match (imagine that).

whenever it has been a good vs. good it has turned out to be a crappy match though, there would be no chair shots or blood, clearly Y2J needs to win this match and has been feuding violently with the rock, no way one of them won't turn heel, i hope its the rock, i can't stand him as a face

Well you already know pretty much what the Rock is going to do in the match and it should be some where along the lines of

Punch, punch, punch, spit in hand slap, bulldog, punch punch, slap across the chest, punch, punch, punch, kick, try for rock bottom, and depending on who he want to head will determine if he hits it or not, or as a twist we might see the most electryfing move..

Jack Dan, Don't you just love that? HA HA HA... I'm guessing you have it. :-) I guess you've already smelt what the Rock is cooking. Please don't ruin it for the rest of us. :-)

Well, JackDan, much to our surprise, the Rock put in a good effort last night as did Jericho and that match was FUCKING great last night. I see Rageparty's point, but this good v. good match was bound to be more gooder than the other ones, because you knew going in that both were going to act like heels cuz they had acted like it the whole week going into the match. And they DID! The Rock acted especially heelish throughout.

The best thing is they didn't blow their wad right away and have somebody turn heel right now and instead just kept on planting the seeds with Rocky being pissed Y2J "cheated" leading to a possible heel turn from him and Steph "helping" Y2J out leading to a possible heel turn by HIM. And, of course, Jericho FINALLY won the big one. What's not to love?

Rest of the PPV was great too. I'd say best WWF PPV effort since Wrestlemania.

This feud is a long way from being over. I bet it gets taken to the next level tonight and will culminate at Survivor Series, where I think Jericho will join the alliance and Stephanie.

-First Feud for HHH anyone? This is what I would like to see happen. I bet HHH wins the WCW belt at the December PPV from Jericho, enters and wins wins the Royal Rumble and faces Austin at Wrestlemania for title vs title.

Speaking of HHH does anyone no if he is still on track to come back in Nov., That would be another great fued with Y2J, or possible have Hunter in the mix with Y2J, and Rockie.

Hello don't get so upset it was all ment in fun. I like the Rock, and understand why he must have such a boring style of wrestling.

i don't see HHH feuding with Y2J right off the bat, he will probably screw austin out of the WWF title against RVD or whoever, and win the Royal Rumble and probably face Austin there, in the mean time Y2J will turn heel and after WM maybe feud with HHH, and after that lets hope the WWF sells WCW and gets back to normal, what a waste of a year this has been!

JackDan,

Upset? I'm not upset at all, infact at times I 100% agree with your statement. Like I said, "OUR" surprise. I DO think he can put on a great match when motivated, though, and against a quality opponent, and clearly that was the case last night. Sorry if I came off upset, although I sorta am after no accidental nudity during the Lingerie Match, so maybe I took it out on you undeservedly. :)

I guess we saw a twist in the Y2J/Rock fued. None turned heel at No mercy. I guess the plan is make them Tag team partners and eventually, they'll turn on each other. I liked when the rock handed him the belts and then the chair and said he'll need the chair when next they fight. (that was F'kn great)

Also, it seems Y2J will be the one to turn. See the Rock ask him If he's still with the WWF? And during the match he intentionally bumped into the Rock.
