According to Dave Scherer of 1wrestling.com, Jerry Lawler will be making his return to the commentators booth on Monday's Raw. This to me is an indication of the Alliance losing at Survivor Series and Haymen being essentially out of a job. (Storyline wise)

I have heard from a few industry sources that Jerry Lawler will make his return to the WWF announcing booth on Monday night at Raw. Given Paul Heyman's shoot promo on Smackdown last night and subsequent choke out by Tazz, it's almost a complete given that he will no longer be commentating for the WWF. I have it on good authority that the WWF has struck a deal with Jerry Lawler to have him return to his commentating position, most probably Monday night.

I thought the king is announcing for XWF and has a kitten behind him. :-)
Anyhow, Jerry L is good for WWF

Can you smell it?

I dont know if that means necessarily that the WWF is going to win. Jerry Lawler could be replacing JR. Remember, the Alliance are ALL HEELS, so their other commentator would be a "heel" too and since Tazz is no longer an option since he apparently jumped to the WWF last night, they'd have to get someone new, and who better to stick something into the WWF's craw (in storyline terms) than the King, who has plenty reason to hate the WWF. So, it doesn't spoil anything.

Plus, with what I poted about Ric Flair in aother post and Foley, Raw Monday is gonna be fucking huge with all these names showing up and a new major storyline starting to work around the stipulation, Im sure. Man, Raw will be HUGE!

Let's hope that most of these rumors pan true. With the Alliance angle finally ending Sunday, things HAVE to change storyline-wise for the WWF. Lawler returning would be great - Heyman is cool, but he gets way overdramatic at times. Lawler provides that comicy-schlock presence that balances perfect to JR (IMO). Theres tension, but its usually light-hearted. Heyman is way too harsh and loud.

It would be great to see the King behind the table again. It's not the same without him. He brings back some of that old style wrasslin that we're used to. Heyman is good, but he doesn't fit in good as commentator he should be writing instead.

news from the rumor mill. I think that we should probably take this with a grain of salt, Lawler was also with the XWF this past week, does that mean that he is with them and not the WWF? Who knows? The internet chatter, 9 times out or 10, is usually off. I think there is more of a chance that Ric Flair comes back this Monday and not Lawler.

This might put this to rest, alrthough you never know in wrestling:

Jerry Lawler faxed a signed contract to the XWF office shortly after he returned from the World Wrestling All-Stars tour of Australia, a source tells PWTorch.com. The contract length is only 40-45 days, but gives XWF rights to television exclusivity during that time. In other words, there would be a legal conflict if Lawler were to appear on WWF television prior to his XWF deal expiring.

Awwwe, so that means he's not coming back right? Well, you can't ask for too many things, we already got Flair coming back on Raw and of course whichever side wins will make some huge announcments and matches. We got a huge Raw coming up! Wooooo

Well, uh, heh heh, a little followup reported by Dave Metzler:

quote:

* Nothing new on either Jerry Lawler or Ric Flair, except the message Lawler put up on his own website earlier today. Basically, he said he had an XWF contract, but they told him that if the WWF offers him a deal they'll let him go. An XWF official verified that the statement was true. Everyone seems to think he'll be on Raw Monday but nobody is saying for sure.

So, maybe that XWF contract means nothing after all! We'll see Monday, I guess.

BACKSTAGE NEWS FROM RAW; POSSIBLE SPOILER

by Buck Woodward Updated: 11/19/2001 1:40:59 PM
Sources have confirmed that Ric Flair is backstage at Raw in Charlotte, NC. No word on what, if anything, it means, but the Nature Boy is backstage.

If he is backstage, he is defintely going to be on tonight. This isn't like HHH being backstage and not showing up because he is still nursing an injury. Tonight is going to be awesome.

Yeah, this'll be good. Hopefully that old bag Linda can stay out of it and let the real boss talk it out. Linda has the shittiest mic skills ever. Just to hear the Woooooo one more time would be great, and also Lawler's laugh. Fucking awsome. Itll also be interesting to see how the Stone Cold situation stand.
