The latest news on the WWF's split into two groups is that it will most probably happen at the 1/21 Raw, the day after the Royal Rumble. It had been rumored that it would happen on the 1/7 edition of Raw. While that was never a "concrete" date, for a while last month it was the "working" date for the split to happen, though Vince McMahon has reportedly changed his mind on the date many times. Now, it appears that the split will probably take place on the 1/21 Raw, which would make a lot more sense from a storyline standpoint since it would be the day after Ric Flair and Vince McMahon's Royal Rumble match and at least there would be some build up for the split. Of course, at this point it could be pushed back further than that but as of right now the 21st is the working date. As for 1/7, in addition to their being absolutely no set up to do the split then, the WWF also has the return of Triple H (along with the return of viewers after the holidays) to bolster that show.

[sarcasn]I don't understand. You refer to them as only 1 popup but everytime I go to the site I get 8 or ten of them everytime I click a link. Did I miss something?[/sarcasm]

No sig pic due to the fact that I am an idiot for not keeping a copy of my sig pic and because the assholes at @home unplugged everyone without warning and did not let anyone retrieve their files from their server.

They're going to fuck it up I know that. They always do. Seeing how Flair will be leader or commisioner of one side, and McMahon will be leader of another, all the faces will go with Flair, all the heels go with McMahon, then they will have to fight each other and it will go into an Alliance sort of thing and WWF will be fucked for 2002.

rage, if you hate the wwf so much and disagree with everything they are doing, WHY DO YOU EVEN WATCH IT!

Yes, a lot of us complain about the WWF, but only you and Sir O constantly complain about them. You never admit when they do something good. I am loving the Vince and Ric Flair storyline right now. And HHH will be a huge return for the WWF. He is the best in the business right now. And Chris benoit should be back before Wrestlemania. So so far, i think the WWF is righting its ship, hopefully.

Because it's hard to pull away, I want to know what the sitution is and how the shows go on TV. The WWF sucks but I can't stop watching cause I have been watching for so many years. I love wrestling but now it sucks, I keep watching because I need to watch. And I did say Booker/Austin is going good and is simialar to Austin/HHH. I did say that RVD's push was a good thing. I'm not all bad, but I was just telling you what this split promotion might end up being.

There was a rumour in the Wrestling Observer (do they publish that in USA?) which was pretty cool- every year the guys "pick numbers" for what order they enter the Rumble...so the rumour was that all the odd numbers go with Vince and all the even numbers go with Flair- it could be sorted out on the Raw after the Rumble (the one you've mentioned) so maybe that is the date?

i know its only a rumour, but it's pretty cool- if they did it properly. it'd make the ppv really good 'coz everyone will be waiting to see who comes down the ramp next.

(couldnt be bothered to start a new topic, sorry if this is in the wrong place...)

There's no way in hell all the heels are going one side and all the faces going the other. I know the WWF didn't have a banner year in 2001, but they're not stupid. I mean, geez, where the fuck did you get THAT impression?

From what I have seen so far, what do YOU think it will be like Mr. Wrestling Genius, what's your impression?

What have I complained about lately? Shit, I haven't even been watching since Survivor Series. I could complain about what Inoki is doing in Japan, which is as bad as or worse than what McMahon's doing, but nobody here would care.

If that happens they deserve to go bankrupt.

Bullshit...what about me? ;)

Yes, the WWF sucks, but right now, for a diehard wrestling fan (and, having been a fan for almost 17 years now, I think I qualify), they're the only option. Some of us are dying for an alternative, whether it be a quasi-number two fed that would be formed by the split, or a legitimate competitor that suddenly materializes (although, given the lack of success by the MECW last year and the apparent dissatisfaction with the XWF by those who attended last weekend's house shows, that's not going to be happening for quite a while).

I do hope a split occurs soon, but that both entities are treated equally, and not as a big-time fed vs bush league farm team type of thing.

*edit*
Also, I am willing to admit when I'm wrong: I have defended XWF in this forum before, but, after attending last Saturday's show, I can safely say I felt ripped off. With the exception of Kid Kash vs Josh Matthews, the fed dispalyed some of the saddest, most pathetic crap I've ever seen...and that was just the "talent."

Madness takes its toll. Please have exact change.

Actually Peach, I wanted to ask you about the XWF show. From reading the results online, I could tell it was probably awful. I'm still optimistic that they can do something substantial, but they need to change their booking - keep the old guys on the undercard, NOT in the main events. People will pay once to see the Road Warriors and Nasty Boys for the nostalgia factor, so they do have some value as draws, but the nostalgia wears off fast and they need to put over younger talent to keep people coming back. And the younger talent that WAS put over on the shows last week, from what I've heard, are god-awful. The no-talent roided out bodybuilders just don't draw any more, they need to push more athletic wrestlers and not copy the WWF "BIG man" formula, especially if they're going to continue to advertise themselves as an alternative to the WWF product.

Anyway, yeah, I complain too much...
