Going from current storylines, of course, how would you set up Wrestlemania? I've got a few ideas, so I’ll start things off. Warning: This is really long:

Main event: Undisputed Championship: Chris Jericho v. HHH

First off, I'd have the main event be Jericho v. HHH for the title with Steph as Y2J's valet. I have a funny feeling I'm gonna be right about this one. It's really the only way to go if the WWF is serious about making Jericho a perennial main eventer, and the Stephanie storyline would be the one ingredient that would make this match Wrestlemania main event material. Plus, it might be the only way that Jericho will get booed instead of cheered by the very patriotic when it comes to wrestling Canadian fans. (HHH is in real life Canadian, too, but he never acknowledges it, so I'm sure Jericho would get a bigger pop all things being equal, even from Canadian fans who know about HHH, because they might think he's a bad Canadian for not mentioning it. God, what a bunch of xenophobes!) Anyway, Steph is so hated, they'll even boo Jericho if he's associated with her, and that's not a bad thing, that's a good thing.

In the end, though in my heart I'd prefer Jericho win, I'd have to make HHH win. I always think the face should go over at Wrestlemania, and after two straight years of a heel leaving Mania as champ (last year, a heel managed to leave as champ in a face v. face match for crying out loud!), I think it's time to get back to basics. So, HHH leaves as champ, and hopefully Jericho can win the belt back from him in May or June after HHH has had some good time to hold the belt. :)

Second Main Event: Rock v. Hulk Hogan

I know Hogan v. Austin is more of a money match than even this, but I think that match is SO special, that it should be built up more and even be held off for Wrestlemania 19, with a huge build over a few months for it. You can keep the two in different organizations when they split so as to keep themselves from booking that match before next year's Mania. However, Hogan HAS to face a major name on his level in his return to Mania, and the Rock fits the bill. I think I read a rumor that this match will happen, so maybe the WWF is thinking like me, in which case the WWF has more problems than any of us thought.

Hogan can cost Rock at No Way Out in his match with Taker as the rumor mill says might happen, and Hogan can say he's mad at Rock for being "Hollywood" when there is only ONE TRUE Hollywood in wrestling, and voila, instant angle. You gotta admit, the interviews leading up to this by Rock would be great. And I'd make the Rock win, for two reasons:

1) To reward Rock for all the jobs he does to "lesser" opponents by having him beat arguably the biggest name in wrestling (even if he is 80 years old, a win over Hogan means something) in the biggest event of the year.

2) To tell Hogan early on that he's not the top dog and he'll be jobbing from time to time while he's in the WWF, and he'll like it or else.

Besides, you can have more matches between these two in PPVs following this to make more money and make sure they each get a couple wins over the other.

Tag match: Austin & Shawn Michaels v. The Outsiders

Ok, here’s my storyline for this:

Just like the rumors of Hogan costing the Rock at No Way Out are circulating, the rumors are that the Outsiders will cost Austin the belt on Sunday, too. If that’s the case, it makes sense that Austin will face both these guys at Mania, but he’ll need a partner. Now, the Stone Cold character doesn’t trust anybody, so he doesn’t pick a partner, and says he’d be happy to take both of them on by himself. At this point, Flair interjects, and says that these matches with the New World Order are too important for the WWF and they can’t afford losing handicap matches to them in the biggest event of the year. So, he must have a partner and Flair will handpick one for him since Austin doesn’t want to. He picks …….. Shawn Michaels! HBK comes out on that live Smackdown in San Antonio announced as Austin’s partner and cuts a promo on how Hall and Nash were his friends, but he’s disgusted at what they are trying to do to the WWF and wants them to be taught a lesson, which is why he volunteered to Flair. Austin will be skeptical, saying he knows the Clique’s history and he also doesn’t think he can trust Michaels after he beat him in the last match of his career almost 4 years ago to the day. Austin will tell Flair that if HBK turns out that he can’t be trusted, it’s on Flair’s ass, while Flair swears up and down that he believes HBK and that he’s the best choice because he knows those two more than anybody.

Of course, we know what happens in the match. Since HBK can’t wrestle yet, the match can be Austin refusing to tag Michaels in for 10 minutes until he gets so beaten up by 2-on-1 double teaming, he tags Michaels in, and without any in ring action occurring, Michaels turns around and superkicks Austin to end the match in DQ, while Michaels puts on a N.W.O. t-shirt and they spraypaint Austin’s back. The reasons for Shawn’s turn are pretty friggin obvious, so they wouldn’t need to explain it, which given the WWF’s recent history, they probably wouldn’t do anyway. Michaels can be a part time wrestler/ full time manager/voice for the NWO .

More importantly, though, this sets up the storyline I want to see when the WWF splits. I don’t know how, since the two matches I booked for the NWO kinda don’t have room for it, but at Mania or the Raw after (maybe Vince yells at Hogan for losing to the Rock and they get mad at him?), the NWO turns their back on Vince and become their own group of outsiders trying to invade the WWF (Vince can’t fire them because he put that stipulation in their contract to keep Flair from firing them). Vince says it’s all his fault, and he should’ve known the NWO couldn’t be trusted and that to make up for it, he wants to fight the NWO by himself and not subject Flair to it. That leads to the split, where Vince agrees to take all the NWO contracts to his side before the draft so Flair doesn’t have to deal with them.

Now, with McMahon out of the picture, that leaves room for Flair to FINALLY turn heel like God intended him to be. With the first pick in the draft, Flair picks Austin. Austin, already pissed at Flair for screwing up on Michaels is now lividly pissed that Flair picked him because he knows he can’t fight the NWO now if he’s in Flair’s WWF, so he can’t even get back at Michaels, Hall or Nash! Austin now promises he will make Flair’s life a living hell in his WWF for all this, just like he did to Vince all those years back. Flair gets more and more paranoid as the fans start to boo him more, until he just decides to get Jericho, a returning Benoit, and two other heels in his WWF (Christian and Test?) to form the Four Horsemen 2002, a heel group designed to do the boss’ bidding. Primary target? Stone Cold. Now THAT is how you return the Four Horsemen!

BTW, Rock and HHH go to McMahon’s WWF (seen on Raw) to battle the NWO, and all the major heels not in the NWO go to Flair’s WWF (seen on Smackdown), if you’re wondering how I would divide the main eventers. And the Undisputed Champion would wrestle on both shows until he loses the belt, when he would go back to the organization he was picked for in the draft. (So, HHH would go to McMahon’s WWF once he lost the belt, for example.)

Intercontinental Title: Edge v. Undertaker

Now, THIS is only in my dreams. But, I’d make Edge win at No Way Out, thus ending his idiotic feud with the most boring in ring wrestler on the planet, William Regal, who will hopefully be depushed into oblivion shortly after, going the way of Rikishi, Too Cool, Test and every other act they tried pushing to the moon that bored the hell out of everyone. Do NOT make that feud soil Wrestlemania, guys. Of course, that means he’d have no IC Title feud and also still wouldn’t be the main event caliber wrestler the WWF I’m sure was hoping he’d be by now. Well, this is a good chance to elevate him, since Mania is in his home town. So, he should face a main eventer for the title and beat him is my logic. Both Angle and Taker are main event heels that would fit the bill and who seem to have no angle going into Mania (HHH and Rock are off to bigger things), and while Angle would be an infinitely better match, I think Taker should be the one doing the job here. It would be more of an upset given the way Taker and Angle are booked, and the bigger the upset, the more reaction Edge will get at SkyDome for the big win, the more reaction he’ll get there after the win, the more likely it is to carry him over until he gets such good pops, he’ll be considered a main eventer. Of course, getting good pops doesn’t guarantee you main event pushes in the WWF (see: VanDam, Rob), but it’s half the battle of convincing fans this guy doesn’t suck. Plus, another reason to put Taker here is that he got the “hometown” win against somebody better than he is last year at Mania in Houston, so this would return the favor. Of course, Undertaker jobbing to Edge in a high profile match at Mania is about as likely as Sir Okonwondo agreeing with me, but hey, this is a dream card, you know?

The reason for the match will be that Taker feels he’s getting no respect for not being in a high match in the card after all he’s done and after he beat Rock at No Way Out, and he demands a big match at Mania, so Edge offers him a IC Title match, at which Taker laughs and says ok, since he figures he’ll kick Edge’s ass left and right, thus forming the David v. Goliath scenario. Edge wants Taker to prove himself in his hometown. I’ve seen storylines for matches at Wrestlemania worse than that.

Angle v. Rob Van Dam

Again, Angle has no angle (pun intended) going into Mania after he’s done with HHH, so a new storyline will have to be made with a big enough face. Unfortunately, the WWF, especially with the return of the NWO , has too many heels and not enough faces. So, the biggest face left is the guy they love to bury. Of course, Van Dam has his feud with Goldust, but that thing is going nowhere already as nobody gives a shit about Goldust, so I think they’ll end up dropping that, hopefully, and if that’s the case, Van Dam’s the only logical guy who would mean anything for Angle to face. I don’t know how a storyline can be made of these two, but I do know that this would be Match of the Night if Jericho v. HHH doesn’t take those honors. Angle wins since I doubt the WWF would ever make Van Dam go over in this spot. Hey, first heel win of the night!

Booker T v. Kane

Well, they both gotta face somebody as they are semi-main eventers and can’t just be buried in some battle royal or 10-man tag or something. Booker T wins just cuz I like him more, and this card is a little too face lopsided so far. Again, neither have a current angle, and I’m starting to realize the WWF has NO ANGLES right now for many of their top guys which makes this tougher than I thought it’d be! Hey, maybe they can bring Pete Rose back?

Women’s match: The Usual Broads

You know they’ll have a T&A match like they always do at Mania, and since these matches usually don’t need storylines to be made since the fans just lovingly accept them for obvious reasons, I won’t even guess as to who will be in it. I’m hoping they stick with Torrie Wilson v. Stacy Keibler in some sort of Wet Bikini Bra and Panties Jerry Lawler screamfest, though. Anything other than Jazz being involved is fine with me, however.

Tag Team Titles: Tables Match or something like that: Spike and Tazz v. Dudleys

Spike and Tazz beat Booker and Test at No Way Out and the Duds win the Turmoil match at No Way Out to set up this match and settle the feud once and for all. Spike and Tazz go over to settle it all as this is their last major title win upset until the inevitable mauling at the hands of the Outsiders, who will hold the tag titles for 8 years, or at least that’s what it will seem like. And hell, when Diesel and Razor win the belts, won’t it at least be funner than you’d think if they do it by killing Spike in the process ala Rey Mysterio, Jr.?

Test v. Rikishi

Why? Well, Test is Canadian and his birthday is March 17th, the day of Mania, so I would think they’re gonna be nice and give him a singles win over someone who’s a major name, if not a total waste of human flesh that won’t be going anywhere, so a loss to friggin’ Test of all people can’t hurt him. And if that doesn’t describe Rikishi, then I don’t know what does.

European Title: DDP v. Lance Storm

See above, only it’s not Storm’s birthday. But, he does get a title, albeit a totally fucking meaningless one.

“Val Venis is Canadian, too, so he gets a win as well” match

Don’t ask me who, it’s a lot harder when the Canadian is a face to come up with somebody decently big a name for him to beat, cuz there is nobody left, so he’ll just beat someone who sucks. I could see him teaming up with Godfather (weren’t they a team a while back? They are a perfect team with their gimmicks anyway) to beat Gunn & Palumbo, who I think they want to give a match, too since the bookers seem in love with them, while nobody else is. Or maybe he beats Goldust or, gasp, Mr. Perfect in a singles match. Please don’t let him beat Perfect. I would think the tag match is the more likely scenario, just out of hope, if nothing else.

20 Man Battle Royal

No Gimmick like last year or anything, this is just all the guys who don’t have a match fighting so they get face time. From the guys who suck and this is to prove they’re not big names (Big Show, Regal, Goldust, APA, Albert), to the guys they have nothing better to do with yet (Mr. Perfect, Al Snow, Scotty 2 Hotty) to the champions with meaningless belts that hopefully won’t be defended (Tajiri, Maven) to the flat out jobbers (Crash Holly, Perry Saturn, Sho Funaki, Taka, K-Kwik, etc.) The winner will be Christian, who is Canadian, and who will have his losing streak go until this match, where he gets a big win over 19 other guys and starts a big winning streak out of it. This way, everyone wrestles at Mania and goes home happy.

So, there you go. 12 matches in all (Remember it’s four hours long, so while 8 or 9 matches is the limit for a 3 hour PPV, more matches are allowed here.) I could see bringing it down to 11 like last year’s was and putting one of the undercard matches on Heat (I’m looking at that Val Venis match or maybe even DDP v. Storm), but considering current storylines (of which I didn’t have many to work with that can be carried on to Mania or I WANT carried on to Mania), this is how I would do it, and I think it’s a pretty fun card, especially the top matches, anyway. Plus, everyone gets to wrestle and the Canadians get the home cooking the Texans enjoyed last year. The most important question would be, would YOU buy it?

Just doing main matches

-Main Event: HHH vs Chris Jericho

-Rock vs Hulk Hogan

-Steve Austin and Kurt Angle vs Hall and Nash with Shawn Michael as guest referee
(Yes, I think Angle will turn semi face because NWO will beat up both Angle and HHH on Sunday and Austin and Angle will coexist for the good of the WWF)Shawn Michaels turns NWO at Wrestlemania when he takes the ref shirt off.

-Tag Belts:
Dudley Boyz vs Tazz and Spike in a Tables match

-Tables Ladders and Chairs match for Ic title:
Edge, RVD, Mr. Perfect

Torrie vs Stacy in a baby oil or jello match.

Very interesting. I agree that would be an awesome card.

Although I have to point something out to you which I cannot believe that no one else hasn't done already. Especially with all of the wrestling marks on this board.

Ok, this seems to be a trend amongst the hard core fans of pro wrestling; to imagine the biggest scenario to mark out about on television. Now, its maybe ok to take a minute or two to think about this type of shit, but to actually think of back-story and deep psychology of these fantasy matches has really got to be unhealthy. The imagination is better suited for total impossiblities, such as having sex with super models, not for these wastes of space that no one really cares aboot. Stuff like this...

Ok, here’s my storyline for this:

Just thinking how long you spent thinking about this entire WM set up is fucking scary.

More than a few ideas. I wouldn't be surprise if you had a manifesto of this shit.

Now, with McMahon out of the picture, that leaves room for Flair to FINALLY turn heel like God intended him to be.

First off, the "now" part. This would lead me to believe you have this huge storyboard in your room, with mock-up pictures of various action figures re-enacting these scenes for your own recording and editing purposes. You and only you should know about these practices. Second, God nevr intended Flair to be a heel. God doesn't watch pro-wrestling, and probably doesn't like it very much, considering he kills most wrestlers during their careers. He prefers BattleDome.

Oh, as opposed to the rest of this card, which would happen in which parallel dimension?

Well, you did give it a full effort, and had quite an imagination about the WWF to come up with that, but that and a 1.40 still wont get you a ride on the subway. I am equally as bad for actually analyzing this post and wasted 10 minutes of my life because of it.
