While I must admit to missing that part of Raw, I find it funny that an ECW fan is saying "is it really worth it to Tommy Dreamer." How about all the times he took a blow to the head or did a spot that has led to him basically being a cripple before he can even have a mid life crisis just so a bunch of retarded drunks can chant "ECW ECW ECW! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!" in what ended up being a worthless organization that couldn't even stay afloat while spending abolutely no money on their talent, to make things worse, it's only true mark on the wrestling world was made in 1995-1996, rendering it's last few years pointless, which is exactly when most of the terrible stuff that happened to Tommy's body occured just to appease you idiots. Was THAT worth it? I'd rather drink from a urinal, thank you very much.

2002 Crack Committee Objectives:
1. 94 Wins and NL East Title by the Mets this year
2. Hate the Braves with a passion
3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year
4. Mets win World Series
5. Hopefully come up with a better name for the Crack Commitee than something the Mad Dog came up with. Come on!

well i guess your not an ecw fan then  personally, and i know a lot of people feel this way to, i think ecw was a great fed and the only reason it failed was because it didnt stick it out for a few extra months. if there was an ecw today it would be a serious rival for the wwf. i suppose if you feel like degrading your character and destroying any future potential is more honerable than taking some wicked bumps and putting on classic matches then ok. any BTW dreamer could have stopped at any time but it was something called dedication to what he believed in, but i guess most people seem to think money is worth more than any sort of personal pride and accomplishment

The truth is, ECW was no rival to the WWE. They did not have a national TV show, and they were in debt to its own workers owing people thousands of dollars. How is that a rival to the WWE? The guy ran it out of his mothers basement. Why if they waited a few more months would they have still been around? The guy was in so much debt before that, would a few months really matter? That fed is done with face it, it takes big money to run a successful entertainment business in todays world he just did not have it.

The sad day for ecw fans was the day it folded. Just to bad the only game in town now is the WWF make that WWE..When you're number one and there is no number 2 you don't even have to try.

What was ECW on TNN?

You should have said they did not have a good national show, because right around the time ECW got the show on TNN, thats when the product started slipping. The show sucked for the most part and TNN fucked ECW over countless times. It wasnt the same product you were used to from ECW. But the main reason why ECW folded was because they couldnt compete with the wallets of Ted Turner and Vince McMahon. When WCW raided ECW in 97 and 98, ECW withstood the hit and survived, but by 99 and 2000, they couldnt survive when guys like Douglas, Awesome, Storm, and The Dudleys left. The only major players who really stood it out the whole time was Tommy Dreamer and Rob Van Dam. And RVD got hurt for almost a year and then he had problems with Heyman at the end.

ECW had a weekly show on MSG. The problem is that it was on Saturdays at 1:00am. Not exactly prime time TV. Plus all the wrestlers that left killed them.

Think about it. You are busting your balls in ECW. Taking chair and table shots, blading almost every time you wrestle, and taking bumps that stuntmen would cringe at. Suddenly, you get an offer from the WWF or WCW. Very few high risk bumps, no blading, and more money than you will ever see staying in ECW. Most of these guys had families, and families come before job loyalty. Since some of these guys hadn't seen a paycheck in weeks, they had to go to greener pastures. Two billionaires on both sides of a guy running the show from a basement. Not very good odds.

yeah thats great. Thats not a National Show which he was referring to.

ECW Hardcore TV was a much better show though than ECW on TNN even when they were both running at the same time.

I enjoyed ECW, but I do think that the ECW fans overstate the value / worth of the federation. I mean, it was fun, and I suppose that's all that really matters to most fans, but in retrospect it wasn't *that* great of a federation. For whatever reason, it never truly realized its potential.

I am a Dreamer fan though. Dreamer was in arguably the best ECW feud / storyline, his war with Raven, and the guy did sacrifice a lot for the company and for the profession. I think I heard that Tommy's only around 30 / 31 yrs. of age, but he's put his body through hell....and I sort of respect him for that, in as much as I respect Foley for doing the same thing - sacrificing his body out of a love for performing. So I'm glad that now he's getting a little exposure.

Of course, this being the world we live in, he has to attempt to get over using a Jackass / Tom Green gimmick, but I'm willing to forgive him for that.

I read that whole segment was Tommy's idea. I guess he was sick and tired of being hidden from WW"E" Television and wants people to know he is. It still blows though.

Yeah its a huge fucking shame, the WWE does'nt (and probably never will) have any idea how to use Dreamer. He has the personality, the mic skills (for the sports entertainment tards), the in-ring abuilty, and the toughness to be a major player. One things for damn sure, he can still put on a more entertaining match than Test, Christian, Big Show, or the Rock -to just name a few. I'll just have to keep watching Heat.

ECW A WORTHLESS ORGANIZATION... ummm NO.
To its fans it gave us the best wrestling show out there, especially around 94-96 when WWF and the once great WCW were not producing anything worth watching. ECW gave us a fresh style combining exiting matches (by getting rid of bullshit like run-in DQ's and countouts; and by letting there wrestlers work there matches as hard as possible for a realistic feel)and interesting storylines that usually led to something which set ECW apart from the big 2.
And guys like Tommy Dreamer, Taz, Jim Fullington fought to keep everything that wrestling should be
about alive, yeah its violent and hardcore (ECW hardcore - to make a match look like the wrestler was willing to do anything to protect themselves and win thus by beating the piss out of the compition- which is logical; not to be confused with XPW hardcore -where storylines dont really matter and blading after a lariat makes sense), but it gives the audience something to cheer for.
Offcourse after it became popular the WWF and the WCW decided to create watered down versions of this; by stealing storyline ideas, signing ecw talent (Benoit, Eddie, Dean Malenko), and by using the ecw "Attitude". Dreamer broke his body giving us great matches, because he actually cared about his job and his fans. All the WWE fans should get on their knees and kiss Dreamer and ecw's collective asses for making wrestling interesting again. Ecw will go on for like ever through its fans.

Good idea, then hopefully you'd drown in urine. And the world whould be rid of one less moron. :p
