I did not know it was knew. Nothing comes close to Undertaker vs Mick Foley 1. That is the match that put the hell in the cell match on the map.

Foley vs UT was the best, but I really did like HBK vs UT too, mainly because the build-up to the match and although it would be later eclipsed, the sheer brutality was well done.

Oh, and skitchr4u I think you forgot these on your last statement

[Sarcasm] [/Sarcasm]

At best Jericho can hope for some sort of screwjob win, but Trip's jobbing cleanly? HAHAHAHA

[Sarcasm]Bossman vs. Taker WM 15!!!!!!11[/Sarcasm]

J/K That was the worst match I seen in my life! The best is Foley/Taker, it helped the WWF in many ways and put Foley on the map as one of the toughest SOB's in the world of wrestling...

[Sarcasm]I am surprised nobody mentioned the Bossman vs. Al Snow "Kennel From Hell" match as best match ever, was it really that bad? [/Sarcasm]

I've seen that match a few times, and honestly, I don't think it stands the test of time. I've looked at it over and over again, and really, it's not that great of a match....the only thing really remarkable about it is the insane bumps that Foley took, which was unbelievable at the time. Nowadays, though, you can pick up a tape of CZW and see crazier stuff there than found in Foley / Taker.

I'd go with Michaels / Undertaker as the best HitC; just better workrate and a better story being told.

This upcoming one will most likely suck though. Here's hoping Jericho can pull something out of Trips, but I doubt it.

Pull something out of Triple H? Jericho isn't always on his game, he has shown he is not as great as people thought he could have been as a main eventer.

I think Jericho/HHH will be similar to Michaels/Taker, with Jericho assuming Michaels' role of bump freak to the immobile HHH. They'll also probably throw in some over the top theatrics (think Rikishi falling into the truck bed), but it will come off as phony and will only detract from the match. I wonder who's going to do the Kane run-in...

Anyway, HHH will win, because Jericho will forever be his bitch. He'll go on to fight Undertaker (who will go over Hogan) at KOTR and once again become undisputed champion in a match nobody wants to see, and the ratings will continue to drop. Maybe Lucy the Dog comes into play somewhere in there too. Who the fuck knows anymore?

I'd have to agree with Se7en here in the minority opinion it seems. The fact of the matter is, if you look at it from a pure entertainment standpoint, then, yes, Foley v. Taker is the best one because the sheer brutality of everything had you getting off your seat in complete disbelief (and discomfort at realizing what Foley was doing to himself). This is much like how Rock v. Hogan at WM18 was a "classic" match. Yes, it was one of the most entertaining 20 or so minutes in WWF/E history, but if you look at it as purely as a wrestling match (and if, say, D'Lo Brown was facing Raven with the exact same match going on, but no cowd heat because of who was involved), it, well, kinda sucked.

But if you look at it from the "artistic" side of wrestling, HBK v. Taker not only is the best HiTC, I'd contend it is one of the top 10 greatest WWF matches of all time during the "modern" era. The story, as Se7en mentioned was engaging from start to finish. Here is the pretty boy everybody hates, smug, arrogant, obnoxious, annoying, and yet, as you can tell by his facial expressions coming down the aisle to the ring, trying to hide the fact that he is scared shitless he might just die tonight. He's going against the tough guy everybody loves because he's like a bully, but he's OUR bully, going to annihilate the arrogant prick we all hate FOR us, cuz we know we can't, but dammit, HE can.

And there is the back and forth action early on. Shawn Michaels tries every play in the book to get the big bully down, but he just can't. And with the ominous prescence of the cell, it makes it that much more frustrating to him that he can't close the deal, because he knows it's just a matter of time before Taker fights back and kicks his ass all over the fucking cage if he doesn't get him while he's down now. When he gives Taker the superkick and Taker gets up like it was nothing, you can actually FEEL HBK wishing he worte his will before this match. He runs away, seeing the escape created by the door being opened for the hurt camera man. Yet, Taker catches up, and that's when the inevitable happens. There he is, the bully FINALLY giving the hated pretty boy, whom the fans had been chanting "MAKE HIM BLEED!" at earlier in the match they hated him so much, the thrashing everybody wants. It is consistent, minute after minute of Shawn michaels being mutilated on the outside, and on top of the cage, in dangerous circumstances, just what he gets for wanting to get out of the cage like a coward. Finally, Taker, after abusing him mercilessly, has him in the ring, bashing a chair repeatedly on the pretty boy's head. HBK is bleeding so much he probably can't see anymore as it's all getting in his eyes, but no matter, the crowd can't get enough. MORE BLOOD MORE BLOOD! And yet, at the end, just as Taker is about to take this selfish prick out of his misery and finish the lesson he's been meaning to give him for all of us for awhile now, in comes Kane, and he pummels Taker, allowing that bastard we all hate to squeak away with the victory, making us hate him even more, because he was so outdone, it's an absolute crime he won AGAIN and got to brag at us AGAIN.

Now, THAT is an enthralling story, ladies and gentlemen. you know what Mankind-Taker was? OOOOOH! He got killed. No, he's alive after 5 minutes of nothing. OOOOOOOOH!!! He died again! No, wait, let them waste another 10 minutes so he can get his brains back together. Ok, he's back. He's gotten his ass kicked. One more thumbtack slam to make us even more uncomfortable. Ok, it's done. He still not dead yet?

Sorry, that's just not enthralling to me as a story. And HHH v. Foley deserves WAAAAAAAAAY more honorable mention, as that had an incredibly dramatic story as well.
