It looks like if you watch wrestling, you are a drug using, alcoholic, who beats their significant other.

Violence Beyond the Mat
Study: Teens Who Watch Wrestling More Likely to Be Violent

April 29 — Researchers at Wake Forest University have discovered that there may be a direct link between watching professional wrestling on television and increased amounts of "date fighting" and other derogatory behavior.

Dr. Robert Durant, one of the study's authors, said the intensity of such behavior corresponded with the amount of exposure to wrestling.
The behavior Durant and his team were looking for was increased amount of drinking, drug use and fighting, both verbally and physically, with their dates.

"Is it causing these behaviors or is it that those adolescents were more prone to engage in health risk behaviors and in other violent behaviors more likely to watch wrestling," Durant said. "I would think that a little of both is occurring."

The researchers found that among high school students, the frequency that they had watched wrestling in the previous two weeks was associated with the frequency that they had engaged in tobacco, alcohol and other substance use, as well as the frequency that they engaged in behaviors like fighting and carrying weapons.

Durant also said that he was surprised to see that teenage girls who watched wrestling were also more likely to fight with their dates as well.

"We have to advise parents to monitor what their children are watching and be careful about the amount of violence and substance abuse they allow their children to watch on television," he said.

Man, that's just fucking rediculous. I've watched wrestling for years, and I've never been a violent person. Only one part of this article makes any sense to me:

Yeah. Well they said the same thing about video games and so called "dark" music groups like Marylin Manson. I think that they are just trying to find a way to justify that they are bad parents.

Do steel chairs across the back count? Cause those really don't hurt ;)

Nothing pisses me off more than reading BS like this. I dont understand how they could blame wrestling for something like that, the only thing they are doing is giving the people what they want to see. Its not wrestling's fault that this is what people demand for entertainment, parents should take more responsibility and do their f'n job instead of finding some easy way out. And these assholes that try to take it away from other people just because their kid is a f'n dumbass that doesnt know any better. Like Anthony said on the show a while ago, they should just take those retards, lock them in a closet and tape the door shut. These parents seem to either not give a shit at all about what their kid watches, until they kill someone..or feel they should be monitoring what EVERY person is watching. Just worry about yourself and your family and let everyone else that knows better to enjoy this simple pleasure.

All leads to one and only thing on this ........ahem

BAD PARENTS Where was the parents of that kid who killed his sister using wrestling moves?
Where were the parents when he started to take up smoking?
And where were the parents when the started fighting in school? NO WHERE!!

All these problems are solved when parents take responsibilty thats RIGHT!! When you watch wrestling with your kids you point out THE DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! All these retarts of parents gotta do is talk to there kids but no they let them run around and just say "Dont do that"

THATS NOT GONNA CUT THE CAKE!! These parents should talk to there kids instead of going to the pub or tellin them there busy and that maybe they can help those poor bastards. This is proberly think how kids act after watching wrestling.

kid- Hey Mum what time is it?
Mum- its 4:19
kid- good! *walks outside with a chair and dropkicks it into the parents face.*
kid- Woooooo 4:20! Your ass is Grass and I just SMOKED IT!!! Cya around 6:32 I'll be back twice as bad and twice as pissed!!! LOL god I'm not funny.......... arent I?

Tazza-911 i couldnt of said it better myself..and if its not bad enough that theyre completely irresponsible when it comes to monitoring their kids, when something goes wrong they automatically blame the world of entertainment, once again not accepting any responsibility. I really cant understand how you can bring a child into this world and be so damn irresponsible.

Don't blame Canada...Blame YOURSELF!

me too. what a coincidence.

nah, i'm kidding. if a kid under the age of 12 hurts himself or others doing wrestling moves then it's the parents fault.
