I just saw this on wrestleline.com, and I think it sums up everything a lot of us feel.

Dear Goldberg,

I hope this letter finds you well. You are probably enjoying your time these days relaxing with friends and family and collecting Time Warner paychecks. I know Kevin Nash is. I know Ric Flair is. That's all nice and good, but duty is calling, and if you like being the "super hero" you claim to be in your book, now's the time to come out of that phonebooth.

I'm sure you heard about, if not witnessed, the debacle that was the WCW in-ring re-debut on Monday during Raw. Yes, it sucked, but things like this happen. It doesn't mean that WCW is dead and that the company that you helped establish is hopeless. It just means that changes have to be made to help make the company more successful. Every single business goes through it, and WCW may look bad now, but it is not done by a longshot.

Here's the deal: Call the McMahons - they'll talk to you. Whatever they offer you, add 20% - they'd have to think hard about what would happen if they did not pay it. Get a good merchandising deal. - they'll give it to you. Break out those extra copies of I'm Next, your book, and have them market it - they'll do it.

In return, you come back as intense as ever. Be ready to work, and work HARD - up to four days a week. Check your ego at the door. Forget everything about what you saw in WCW - the backstage politics in the WWF are miniscule compared to what they were under Turner. Get ready to make fans pop like 10 million girls at a Backstreet Boys concert. Prepare to mug for the camera and have your fans gobble it up. Sign autographs after shows. Do some more community service and charity work. Do what you love to do. Help people. Entertain people. Make people get up off their seat and mark out. Remember, not many people can walk into an arena and have 20,000 people chant their name. You can. You will.

Furthermore, Goldberg, you will be the sole superstar of WCW. That's tough for me to say since I like Booker T, but it's the truth. You'd be the main event. This time around, there won't be a Hulk Hogan to take some of your sunshine. This time, there won't be a Vince Russo to make you do things you're gonna hate doing. It will be at least 8 months until Kevin Nash even thinks about coming back. Truly, you would be THE MAN. Don't think so? Ask around to see what kind of reaction you would get main eventing Wrestlemania 2002 against The Rock or Steve Austin. Yeah, that will happen if you sign up - you'll be a big part of the biggest night of the year - year after year. There's no doubt about that.

The best thing WCW did was evolve Goldberg into a superstar. Other than the nWo angle, it's the only thing they did right. Now it's your turn to evolve, Bill. WCW needs you back - bad. The wrestling community needs you back - bad. More importantly, wrestling fans WANT you back - bad. Bring back the spear and break out the jackhammer. Money is nice, and trust me, you'll make a lot of it once you're back on the scene with WCW.

Goldberg, now is the time for you to return to the ring with the new WCW. Of course it's great to sit at home and get a paycheck, but if you want a legacy in professional wrestling - if you want to be remembered forever alongside the names of guys like Gorgeous George, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, and others, my man, come get it.

Do the right thing, Goldberg. See you soon.

Truer words were never written about wrestling. I second his sentament about a Goldberg vs. Austin match but it would be even better if both titles were on the line!!

Good letter, but the guy who wrote it is a total faggot. I mean he calls himself DOWNTOWN Dave. For the love of God. What heterosexual male calls himself DOWNTOWN? And he shows his face in public outside of Greenwich Village!

"Hey, my friends call me Downtown Dave."

"Why?"

"Well, uh, heh heh, uh, hey look over there! ..." (Dave runs away with his arms frailing like Peggy Bundy as the guy stares at the air Dave pointed to.)

But seriously, I've read the guy's work and 99% of the time I've actually read his column, he sucks. Well, I guess the 1% happened today.

Personally, I'd rather they get Flair to be commisioner or something, because Goldberg is a lazy peice of shit who won't have his heart in it and it will show, and he'll fail and Vince would be left to say, "Oh shit, he was our money guy!" Then the angle will be ruined because Goldberg wanted to sit at home to rest his ailing finger which got a paper cut so he can't wrestle at Wrestlemania. Seriously. This is what he'd do.

I think even WITH the WWF environment, he'd be like this since he didn't pay his dues to get to the top and so has little respect for the business. In other words, he's the Big Show. The Big Show went straight into WCW. No indy feds, no $10 a night, just straight into the limelight, just like Goldielocks over here. And we all know how HE turned out as soon as that great WWF environment took over. It didn't work on him. Because he can't work in an environment in wrestling where he can just slack off like in WCW.

For proof of Goldberg's laziness and total jackassness, see: Goldberg's heel turn; most Goldberg matches; HHH's altercation with thbis nimrod at an autograph show.

TRUST ME, you wouldn't believe how the Giant turned out when he jumped to the WWF, Goldberg would be the same. Period.

I hate Goldberg. Always have. Ask anyone. But I agree. Goldberg is the type of powerhouse that WCW needs to be developed around right now, while other performers are developed to his level.

You listen to me! While I will admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is I am a nay-sayer and a hatchet man in the fight against violence! I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King! My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method...is love. I love you, Sheriff Truman.
