I laughed my ass off after reading this. Just imagine, if Time Warner had any financial sense, there would be no invasion angle right now. and Eric Bischoff would be the man in WCW.

WCW PURCHASE PRICE FINALLY COMES OUT, WWF PRACTICALLY STOLE THE COMPANY

by Dave Scherer Updated: 7/29/2001 6:17:35 PM

The WWF filed their annual report with the SEC on 7/27. In the report, the purchase price that they paid for WCW finally came out. After seeing what they paid, well, it's no wonder they were able to drop the WCW angle so easily. The following passage is from the report.

"In March 2001, we acquired substantially all of the intellectual properties and certain other assets of World Championship Wrestling(R) (the "WCW(R)"), including the trade name, tape library and other intangible assets from a subsidiary of AOL Time Warner for $2.5 million. In addition, we incurred certain related costs to acquire these assets of approximately $1.8 million."

So there you have it. An amazingly low figure. Eric Bischoff's Fusient group was willing to pay at least 10 times that. AOL Time Warner shareholders should be outraged.

Damn, that is amazing. Even if you include the WWF having to negotiate new contracts for all the WCW stars they want to bring over, the actual expenditure cost is decidedly on the low end. Was WCW really that much of a profit loss for Time Warner that they sold it all off for a song?

In the year 2000 I think that instead of making a profit WCW lost $80 million ...in 1 year....Either 1999 or 2000

Goodwill alone should have bought them about $35 to 40 million

Dude...how can you write that off on your tax return?

"February 2001: $350 million: XFL losses
March 2001: $4.3 million: Buying out competetion
July 2001: $250 thousand: ECW tm's
July 2001: $2500: Stephanie's breast augmentation"

It's kind of scary when someone who gets 4 out of 5 numbers on a lotto ticket can buy their own wrestling company. The question then is, instead of re-launching their own promotion, why didn't Hogan and the others just buy WCW?

You'd think Vince would have paid a little bit more to have gotten them done right.

Its funny that Steph's chest came up. Last night while watching Raw, my g/f commented on how they should have taken some of her now much larger ass and put it into her chest instead of the silicon! They are nice, but she looks like she sat around quite a bit lately.

Oh, and back on topic, I can't believe that they would pay 4.3mil for WCW and not buy out ECW for just a little bit more and own all of the US wrestling organizations!

It might be that she is wearing a much better bra that is working....Also why buy ECW when it is no more anyway and you have all the talent from it that you want?
