Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | Fund-Raising Event Unites Stars to Benefit Victims of the World Trade Center Attack and Honors Heroic Rescue Workers. Live On VH1: Saturday, October 20, 8 pm (ET/PT) The toughest of us rise during crisis situations, and the World Trade Center tragedy finds many hands helping to heal the wounds we all suffered on September 11. The music community has been conspicuous in its efforts, and on Saturday, October 20, at Madison Square Garden, Paul McCartney, The Who, Bon Jovi, Mick Jagger, John Mellencamp, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, James Taylor, Melissa Etheridge, Macy Gray, Marc Anthony, Five For Fighting, Goo Goo Dolls, India.Arie and many more will gather to perform a benefit and tribute to the victims in a show called the Concert for New York. VH1 is proud to host the live broadcast of the four-hour event, beginning at 8 pm ET/PT. Actors including Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Carrey, Chris Rock, Gwyneth Paltrow, David Spade, Julia Stiles, Denis Leary, Meg Ryan, Susan Sarandon, and John Cusack are also scheduled to perform, but the real stars of the show will be seated in the audience. Organizers VH1, Cablevision, Miramax Films, and AOL have invited 5,000 members of the New York fire, police, and rescue crews who tirelessly worked to save lives and restore order in lower Manhattan. "At first I felt useless," says participant Paul McCartney, "I thought, 'What can I do?' I knew I had to do something to help. So I'm going to do this concert. Although the events are dreadfully sad, in a way I was glad I was in New York when it was all happening because I was able to witness the tremendous heroism that has come out of the city since the disaster." That heroism will be on parade October 20 along with a few timeless pop nuggets dedicated to a good cause. All proceeds raised by the event will go to the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which will distribute the money to the Twin Towers Fund and other charities benefiting those affected by the tragedy. If you can't get a ticket, don't worry. The telecast will feature a phone number and Web site URL for donations. I just can't believe all the things people say. Why must I deal with this shit every fucking day. ever stop to think ..... and forget to start again?? | ||||

O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | I'm pissed. I checked LiveDaily yesterday night to see what time tickets went on sale, and it had them listed at being sold beginning at Noon. It turns out they went on sale @ 9 am, so I never even had a chance. Fuck! I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | quote: actually Froy, out of like 7 or 8 of us who tried to get tix at 9am NO ONE got them. This was thru both the comp and the phone.. the TM.com site wouldn't come up and then supposivly by noon when we finally got thru to TM on the phone, the show was sold out. it makes us wonder if something weird was going on that they didn't really put the tickets on sale. what did it sell out in 2 mintues? an excuse for an unofficial board event.. watch it somewhere..
