I happend to catch a great flick on DVD over the weekend:
Waking Life.
Very good head trip movie. This is animation done over actual people. It is an extremely deep hallucinogenic movie about lucid dreaming. I highly reccomend it if you happen to be flying on some shrooms or on LSD. I viewed it on some 'cid and enjoyed it throughly. I might even buy this one used for future experimentation.

yeah, that was a real good movie. the entire animation was done on a Mac, hence the incredibly low cost for making the film. I did not watch while halucinating, but enjoyed it anyway. It was a real different project for Richard Linklater(sp?). I think Lewis Black was in it for one of the scenes, talking about guns or something. I had no idea it was out on DVD, thats one I'd like to own. Also, referring to LSD as 'cid is a tiny bit lame.

I saw it. Thought it was boring and pretentious. Some of the stuff discussed was somewhat interesting but for the most part it was just cliff notes philosophy. I admired what he was doing with the animation to further emphasize the points but I was sighing throughout most of the movie. Of course not liking the movie means that I am too stupid to understand it.

And that wasn't our Lewis Black but another one.

that's pretty much the most common criticism of
the movie that I've heard. Of course that only
represents the opinions of the tiny minority of
the movie-going public who actually have seen
"Waking Life".

The guy who set himself on fire was good.

I believe this movie will remain popular with the drug culture. It is a good addition for the 'drug movie' (hate to call it that)collection. This would work nicely for those nights when you are coming down and cant sleep. I believe I will be adding it to my collection next to Natural Born Killers, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, ALien Dreamtime (fucking sweet), and Fight Club. ALl these movies work good for these occasions. Good to have if a friend starts freaking the fuck out asking for an ambulance after eating a bit too much acid and topping it off with VItamin C (yeah, unfortunately this has happend at my house).
