MoFunk, seek adoption, we are all mostly familiar with each other, check around the board there is always something going on....

For example, Friday night like 20 of us are going to see Jim Breuer

May 5th is the boards 1st anneversary party

May 13th some of us are going to a yankee game

and June 10th is our softball game

there are always something unofficial going on

He waits, hoping for a presence, something, anything to enter
After spending half his life searching
He still felt as blank as the ceiling at which he stared
He is alive, but feels absolutely nothing, so is he?

Forget the official anniversary board party, let's all go to this jerk-off's mett & greet instead.

MoFunk, worse that AIDS.

Although most of the general public has been led to believe Mr. Brownstone is about some of the band members' heroin addictions (mainly from the disinformation provided by the band in order to garner street cred), the song is actually about Mr. Frank Brownstone, the head instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Los Angeles. In the late 80s, Rose was a student of Brownstone's (who do you think taught Rose his snakelike hip-swiveling?). Apparently, Rose did not pay Brownstone for the lessons. This song is about Brownstone's constant, yet futile, attempts at reimbursement.

Does this mean you won't be needing a ride? :)

How I'm craving you, yeah!
Every time I'm near you
I always want to swallow you down
I'll be right here if ya' need me
In my life, I'll need you here, don't ask why

if i am at strike 2, then gonzo with his "plug-whoring" as you say should have struck out a long time ago.

what's good for one should be good for all.

i could understand if this was not a music forum, but it is.

Gonzo is not a plug-whore. His band has been around for a while, and he does not promote it by saying "meet friends from here", nor promoting a website.some might think of that as spamming. Gonzo simply puts in the dates and times and places that he is playing for that week.. I have gone to see him a few times, and have seen his band way before I started going to this message board, which a lot of people have also. He is not plug-whoring at all.

Just for the record, I received permission (first from IP, then from NJDude) to post my band's weekly info here. If I plug other than that, it's always in a half-joking, half-serious way. Although the implication is that I would like to have people from the board come to see my band (especially since I can never make unofficial parties due to the band's schedule), I have never implied that any of the shows were a "meet and greet" for the board, and I would not do so without permission from the board (i.e. Froy).

MoFunk, you can get away with plugging here, but it must be done tactfully. People get easily pissed off because plugging too much can get very annoying. Hopefully this clears things up a little.

Banana Juice, thanks for the respect...have another Jager shot on my tab..............

gonzo-

let me first say that in NO WAY was my comment at all disrespectful TO YOU or THE BAND. i was just pointing out that i have been posting information about the band and our appearances in a quite similar fashion as you do, and have been labeled a "plug-whore" for doing so. in fact, i was modeling my posts after yours so i didnt give the impression of upstaging you since you have been posting here long before i have. and as far as posting the link to the band's website, you do that as well.

there have also been some posts here to which i have replied to, such as a post about 311 and ska music and other issues that pertain directly to the music and styles we perform. i only noted in my post that they (the reader) could find out more information by going to the website and that we perform 311 songs (which not too many cover bands do). that post, as i look at it was relevant to the topic.

as far as my "meet-n-greet" idea, it is not a ploy at all. i have posted the band's appearances on other local message boards and chat rooms and was well received. they used the band's appearances as an "excuse" to get together and put a "face to the name". consequently, it has been very successful. i was only trying to bring that same idea here.

and as far as offering free drinks to people who show up as a result of learning about the appearance from this message board, did i not offer a free drink to you banana juice??

and also e-mailed matt/froy about the "posting etiquette" with my posts about the band. froy's reply to me was that "it is considered spam, but it would be ok as long as i kept it to a minimum". which i did. basically, one post about the band per week, unless someone replied to that post or there was a topic of conversation relative to the band.

and to all those who have taken offence to my posts, i apologize for my actions, but you have just simply misunderstood my intent. if you should ever see one of our performances you'll understand. keep an open mind and judge us after you've experienced us, and i'm sure you'll feel differently.

OK, it's really simple...
spamming (ie: posting advertisements for a website band product station etc..) is NOT ALLOWED! If the jist of any, I repeat, ANY post you make appears to be a blatant or disguised advertisement you will be called on it. The extent of any advertising you CAN do without prior consent is put a link to your website in your signature.
Gonzo has recieved PERMISSION to post his bands weekly schedule along with info. YOU have not.
Until you DO recieve permission (ie: by e-mailing froy and him telling you it's ok) you had better not make another post that even SKIRTS advertising your band.

The other major difference is that Gonzo was a contributing member of the board before he starting plugging his gigs. He has 730 posts and maybe 30 at most are (permitted) plugs. We may call him a plug whore, but we do it as a joke. I've never seen any post by Mofunk that wasn't a plug. Go fig.
