I remember my youth....
I was but a young man, eleven or twelve. My family had just moved to the neighborhood and I was once again, "The New Kid".
I was playing hide and seek with some new friends.
The game had begun and I was the chosen one to be "It", to start. As I counted to 200 [Local rules], I could hear the scruffling of toughskins and the patter of cheap sneakers on the gritty sand lot. As I reached 198, 199 and finally 200, I was excited to display my keen seeking skills and removed my hands from my eyes.
After scoping out the lot and plotting my search route, it suddenly dawned on me....I'd been ditched!
