SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer
TCP properties for IP = xxxxxxxxxxxx ()
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90)

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 17520
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 17520
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 700.8 kbps (87.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 280.32 kbps (35.04 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 117 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

I just had my tcp/ip analyzed, what do all these words and numbers mean? and is it possible to make it faster. It says I may achieve higher speeds by adjusting my rwin value, what?

What operating system are you running there, Perv? On speedguide.net check out the link on the frame right about the Analyzer - it'll be "Registry Tweaks" or "Win2K Tweaks"

Many people here, including myself, have run these registry entries and seen faster benchmarking of our broadband connections.

As always make sure you back up the registry and have a back out plan in place before tinkering!

Also if anyone is running on XP (Home or Pro), you might want to check out my thread here. When I upped to XP, my cable speed was shit, and I couldn't figure out why. I mainly use DSL Reports over speedguide - just preference - and I had a gut in the broadband forum walk me through a bunch of crap to get me going - beginning with whats contained in my link above. And now I'm moving faster than when I was on 98SE, with much more efficiency (per their speed and tweak tests).
