| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | I can think of no technical reason why my ISP would mean anything about seeing "image macros" at all. It's a bit just like any other. My ISP doesn't have any idea if I'm looking directly at the pic or if it's hotlinked through OA.com I, for one, can't see anyone's sig pics except for a few people (Seph and Kid and FTL on this thread) So homestead is free? | ||||

Becuase I can literally see the pics for like five poeple on the board. Kid, Seph, Froy, and FTL are pretty much the only ones, and I assume they're all not hosted at Yahoo. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Again, here I am at work using AOL (and unfortunately, the IE inside it) and I can see most sigs on the board - including every one in this thread. AOL should be a decent host, since you pay for it and all. I'd suggest that everyone use their ISP's webspace. Most ISPs these days will give you 10 or so megs to play with. Otherwise, Homestead Personal Preview is free. You get 8 megs of space and they do, at least for now, allow hotlinking without paying for it. I know Seph uses homestead, as do I. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | I'm using Optimum Online, and for some strange reason, I see almost all of the Yahoo sig pigs. I too think it must be determined by your ISP, but Im not really sure. As mentioned by others in this thread, I do use Homestead as my provider. However, I am considering changing soon. The 8mb rule doesnt affect me much, but the 3GB bandwidth transfer rule is starting to hurt. Because i post so many Image Macros in threads, it causes the demand on my server to skyrocket, and Im usually locked out until the requests go down. Im seriously considering purchasing a Domain name and site, and use that. I've been looking around, and so far Penguin Hosting looks like the best deal. $5 per month and I get a ton of shit, including unlimited bandwidth.
