NFL BREAKDOWN- WEEK 3- SEPTEMBER 30, OCTOBER 1, 2001

New Orleans Saints (1-0) at New York Giants (1-1)
This is a very good matchup between two top notch teams in the NFC. The Giants are coming off a well played game in Kansas City which was their first win of the year. The Saints have not played in 3 weeks and that may hurt them here this week. Throw in the fact that it is the Home Opener for the Giants and the crowd should be rocking at Giants Stadium. This is a tough spots for the up and coming Saints. They should keep the game competitive but the Giants have too much going for them in this one.
SCORE: Giants 17 Saints 13

Tampa Bay Bucs (1-0) at Minnesota Vikings (0-2)
This is a very interesting and pivotal divisional matchup in the NFC Central. The Vikings are surprisingly 0-2 and did so against lackluster teams in Carolina and Chicago. The Bucs werent very impressive in their opening win which was 3 weeks ago in Dallas. The Fact that the Bucs are going to be rusty, the Vikings are going to be home where it is very tough to win, and the fact that the Vikings desperately need this Football game. I expect Dennis Green to have his team ready to play. I expect a big day from both Dante Caulpepper and Randy Moss and the Vikings should get back into things with a win they must have.
SCORE: Vikings 27 Bucs 16

Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) at Washington Redskins (0-2)
The Redskins proved on Monday Night that the Dallas Cowboys may not be the worst team in Football afterall. They might not even be the worst team in the Division. The Redskins have been absolutely awful the first 2 weeks getting outscored 67-3. Jeff George is gone and Tony Banks is in. They have a better human being at Quarterback, but not a Better Quarterback at Quarterback. The Chiefs though are not a very good football team either, but are better than Washington. Despite the fact that its the Redskins Home opener and their First game at home since the Pentagon Attacks, I still feel the Skins will fall short here on their way to a very long season.
SCORE: Chiefs 20 Redskins 13

Miami Dolphins (2-0) at St. Louis Rams (2-0)
This is one of the marquis football games of the week taking place in the Rams Home Opener. The Dolphins have had very impressive wins to start off the season against the Titans and Raiders, two of the favorites to represent the AFC in the Superbowl. If the Dolphins defense keeps it up and they get the effort they got out of Jay Fiedler last week, the Dolphins might have a shot to be Superbowl contenders. But when you talk about Superbowl Contenders, the Rams are a definite. The Rams started off with 2 tough Road wins against the Eagles and 49ers, and now come home for their home opener. It will be an interesting matchup to see the Dolphins defense try to stop the Rams Offense. Miami may be able to contain the Rams, but they wont be able to stop them, and the Dolphins should fall short in this one.
SCORE: Rams 24 Dolphins 13

Green Bay Packers (2-0) at Carolina Panthers (1-1)
The Packers are coming off a very impressive Monday Night massacre against the Redskins, but alot of that might be due to the awfulness of the Washington Redskins. The Packers now have to come back with the short week and head to Carolina who will be having their Home Opener. This is not going to be a cake walk for Green Bay. I expect Carolina to be in this Football game and have a chance to pull this out. I am going with Green Bay in this one because they are the better team and Brett Favre should find a way to pull this one out for the Pack, but I would not be surprised at all if the Panthers were to win this game.
SCORE: Packers 20 Panthers 17 (OT)

Indianapolis Colts (2-0) at New England Patriots (0-2)
The Colts have been very impressive the first two weeks and the Patriots have been anything but. The Patriots were set up this year to be an awful football team, but the possible season ending injury to Drew Bledsoe is going to make this team beyond awful. You saw it from them last week against the Jets. The Jets played a terrible football game and still walked out of Foxboro with a victory. The Colts may be the team to beat in the AFC when its all said with and done, if they can get their Defense straightened out they are going to be hard to beat.
SCORE: Colts 37 Patriots 19

Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1) at Buffalo Bills (0-2)
The Steelers are another team who hasnt played in 3 weeks and that could hurt them. But the Bills are a very bad football team and the Steelers need to win this Football game. The Steelers played awful in Jacksonville in their opening game and have had 3 weeks to think about that game. Bill Cowher who is one of the fine Head Coaches in the game will have his team ready to play in Buffalo and that should be enough to get them out of their with a victory.
SCORE: Steelers 24 Bills 17

Atlanta Falcons (1-1) at Arizona Cardinals (0-1)
The Falcons could be 2-0 on this young season but they gave away a game in their opening game to the Niners. They bounced back well last week against Carolina and now they travel to the desert to face the Cards. The Cards got off to a great start against Denver last week and went all downhill from there. But that was the Broncos, one of the better teams in the entire NFL. Atlanta is not a very good football team, they are a mediocre team. And Arizona is good enough, that if Jake Plummer is finding his guys and they limit their mistakes, they can beat mediocre football teams, especialy at home. Im taking the Cards to get the upset here.
SCORE: Cardinals 21 Falcons 17

Baltimore Ravens (1-1) at Denver Broncos (2-0)
The defending Superbowl Champions have been anything but sparkling in their first 2 games, including a loss to the lowly Bengals last week. The Broncos have been rolling along to start off the season and are looking to dethrone the Ravens, and once again be crowned Super Bowl Champions. The thing in this game is that I dont think the Ravens are going to put out another stinker this week. I feel the Ravens will play their best football of the year by far, and the Broncos may not be ready for that. If the Ravens can do anything on offense, and their defense plays like the top notch defense it is, I feel the Ravens will win a nail biter and gruesome football game in Denver.
SCORE: Ravens 19 Broncos 17

Cincinnati Bengals (2-0) at San Diego Chargers (2-0)
Well its a 2-0 matchup between two teams who are not used to prosperity. But lets not get crazy with these teams just yet. The Bengals won both their games at home, and the Chargers won both their games against lousy opponents. These two teams are definetly improved, especially the Chargers, who with their schedule may have a chance to make a playoff run in the AFC. The Bengals should keep this close though, but I dont expect them to win this game.
SCORE: Chargers 23 Bengals 17

Cleveland Browns (1-1) at Jacksonville Jaguars (2-0)
The Jaguars were a team I was very high on to begin the year, and they have been very good in their first 2 games. They won Home games against the Steelers and Titans, and now they are back home again against the Browns. I don't think the Jags are going to be stopped in this one, despite the fact that the Browns beat the Lions last week in Cleveland.
SCORE: Jaguars 27 Browns 9

Seattle Seahawks (1-1) at Oakland Raiders (1-1)
Its the home opener for the Raiders and that is going to make it nearly impossible for Seattle to pull this game out. But I dont think it will be a cakewalk either. The Raiders have a tendency to give up some points and I think Seattle will rebound from a poor performance last week against Philadlephia, and will give the Raiders a challenge, but the Raiders are too good of a football team to let this one go.
SCORE: Raiders 34 Seahawks 24

Dallas Cowboys (0-2) at Philadelphia Eagles (2-0)
Whether Deuce Staley is playing in this game or not, Does it really matter? The Cowboys make their first trip on the road this year and its not going to be pretty on this Sunday Night affair. Things could get really ugly and in a hurry.
SCORE: Eagles 27 Cowboys 0

San Francisco 49ers (1-1) at New York Jets (1-1)
This is an intriguing Monday Night matchup between these two teams. If the Jets cant score any points with their West Coast offense against the Niners then you will know that their is trouble with their plan of attack. The Niners however should put points on the board against the Jets defense. One thing is for sure, The Jets will not get past the Niners putting up the weak overall effort they put up against the Patriots last week. But I think the Jets will find a way to get through here. They are going to put up some points and they should hold on in what should be a very competitive game.
SCORE: Jets 34 49ers 28

Truer words have never been said. If you hate the Cowboys like me, tonight has been the funniest travesty ever witnessed by human eyes.

The Fuckin Eagles cost me packing it in in the 2nd Half.

In my pool, you get bonus points for picking the Blowout or Close Game of the Week.

I picked the Eagles for Blowout of the Week, so they had to win by 32 or more points, matching the Chiefs and Rams who won by 32.

The Eagles had it in cruise control and were winning 40-6, and then they stop playing and let Dallas score 12 points to end it.

So I would have had my pool locked, now I have to depend on a Jets victory tomorrow night to win it.

i was dissapointed with this week, i wanted a tighter game with the Rams and the Dolphins, but at the same time it was funny to see Philadelphia mop the floor with Dallas' ass
