Oops, my bad. 114 wins.

The Mariners tied the American League record of 114 wins set by the 1998 New York Yankees, routing the Texas Rangers 16-1 Thursday night as Tom Lampkin hit a pair of two-run doubles.

"I hope people realize what we just did," said reliever Jeff Nelson, a member of the 1998 Yankees. "A few years ago, this was a team in the Northwest that nobody would have heard of without Ken Griffey Jr. Now, it's won 114 games. Maybe it will win 117 games. Who knows?"

The AL West champs (114-45), who matched their season high for runs, have three regular-season games left and can break the major league record for wins set by the 1906 Chicago Cubs (116-36).

"Let's see if we can add to these 114 wins," Mariners manager Lou Piniella said. "We'll do our best to go by 'em this weekend. It'll feel good if we do it."

Ichiro Suzuki, who leads the AL with a .351 average, went 1-for-4 to raise his hits total to 240, matching Wade Boggs (1985) for the most hits in the AL since Heinie Manush had 241 for the 1928 for St. Louis Browns.

No! I'm glad the Mariners are doing good, because it would be nice to have some competition for the yankees, but i still want them to win.
