Now this is a record I'm proud of today.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Lenny Harris became baseball's career leader in pinch hits, lining a single with one out in the sixth inning Saturday night of the New York Mets game against the Montreal Expos.

Harris, batting for shortstop Rey Ordonez, hit a 1-2 pitch from Carl Pavano just past the outstretched glove of a diving Geoff Blum at second base for his 151st career pinch hit -- passing Manny Mota's record.

After Harris rounded first base, the game stopped as the Mets dugout and bullpen emptied. His teammates surrounded him on the base as the crowd gave him a standing ovation that lasted more than a minute.

Harris is 21-for-83 as a pinch-hitter this season with eight RBIs. He has 30 hits overall this season and 926 for his career.

Harris came to the majors in 1988 with the Cincinnati Reds and has also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Cincinnati Reds, the Colorado Rockies. the Arizona Diamondbacks and two tours with the Mets

I couldnt agree with you more Froy. He is one of the better guys in the sport, and could be the main reason why Piazza stayed here during his first season here. Congrats to Lenny.

Lenny Harris has always been an under appreciated player, I am happy he finally got rewarded for his consitent play.

shall have a new birth of freedom; and that this government
of the people, by the people for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

Nope Not really. The Mets got rid of Harris after the 98 season. They got him back in 2000 from Arizona in a trade for Bill Pulsipher.
