hmmmm interesting indeed.

btw i would hate to see atlanta in the world series as well. It would really suck to see a sweep in the series again. :)

So i am guess that you guys don't like Bob Gibson either? One of the best pitchers in the history of Baseball, and he threw at more people than Clemens did. Clemens is a great pitcher. And I was not a big fan of bringing he him in the first place, but he has done better for us than David Wells. (stat wise over the history of the trade)

If your a batter, you know that you can't hog the plate if Clemens is pitching. Is he supposed to sit back and let people hit 400 ft bombs off him?? I just wish that someone did that to Carl Evertt.

Once again, I have no problem with pitchers pitching inside. Gibson did it, Drysdale did it,Koufax did it etc. I have no problems with Clemens pitching inside. You can drill guys in the ribs if you have to. It is headhunting I don't like. Again, I also bashed Benetiz when he threw behind Tino Martinez, an obvious intent.

Maybe its the DH, I don't know. All I know is if Joe Torre complained when Roger was with the Blue Jays, same principal holds when he is on your team. I really didn't want to beat this point to death; I just wanted fan consistancy, which might be too much.

Wouldn't bother me one bit.

After all, Joe Torre, Don Zimmer, Lee Mazzilli, and Willie Randolph all played for Mets, Torre was their manager, and Stottlemeyer couched one of the Mets best pitching staffs.
Consider it something akin to "the enemy of my enemy if my friend".

Well, IF that happens, which i am still hoping it doesnt (lets go diamondbacks and M's), i will officially change the objective of the committee to 2 objectives:

1. Root against the Braves in the World Series to lose in a sweep
2. Be happy that the World Series trophy stayed in New York rather than Atlanta, aka ShitTown USA

So in other words, i hate the braves more than i hate the yanks.

Dragon,
I agree with some of your points. You can't defend somebody who deliberatley throws at people with the intent to hurt seriously. I'm not gonna sit here and say clemens is the cleanest pitcher, cause he's not. All I'm saying is because he does challange batters by pitching inside and because he has hit people on purpose, it doesn't mean that everytime he hits a batter it's on purpose.
Also I do think we all should just order a round, knock back a few, root for the NY team to win(whoever they are, Yanks,Mets,Jets,Giants) and just have a good time.

Geez, does anyone care that the M's had 116 wins this year? I wouldnt be so quick to count them out. REMEMBER, the yankees were down 2-0 after losing the first 2 at home against the A's, and they won...so why cant the M's do it? Im sorry, but im not gonna support the yanks if they play the braves yet. This is a 7 game series, and it is far from over.

While i admit the Committee is weakened, its not over yet. GO Mariners, and Diamondbacks!!!

No I don't care at all. That doesn't mean Jack once you enter the post season. It comes down to who is a better team and who has the experience.

And as far as the yanks coming back from 0-2 after loosing at home? Exactly, the yanks did it, and there the only team who probably can do it. No other team can do it!!!

CF,

I haven't ruled out M's comming back, but post season is very different than Reg season. During the regular season, you use your 4th & 5th starters, you rest guys, you beat up weak teams, etc.
During a short series, you can drop the 5th starter and sometimes even 4th. You don't worry so much about tiring your guys out, and simply, if you get hot at the right time your in. Example closest to my heart was '73 Mets; they barely topped .500 for year, yet their pitching allowed them to beat Big Red Machine, and took a great A's team to 7 games.
Pitching matchups favor yankees, and I don't have confidence in Boone to hit like he did during season. I'll still root "properly", but it doesn't look good.

Besides, as you can see, my priorities are to beat Atlanta at any cost. :p

Yes but this doesnt matter anymore. Especially if they lose this series then it actually means even less, because whats the point of winning all those games just to get your asses kicked. I rather win 96 game and take the trophy home.

1. Its the Yankees in Oct. So they have the power to come back.
2. Maybe the M's could pull it iff but they are playing the yankees in oct. so no chance in hell.
3. Lou already jinex them with saying they would be back in Seattle for game 6...bad move dont give the Yankees another reason to sweep the M's just so lou can eat his words.

Lou's words aren't a big deal. Yankees are too professional not to be motivated already. Maybe (but probably not) it motivates his team.
After all, what did you want him to say, that he expects to get swept?

Go D-Backs !; so far Schilling is superb.

I know its wishful thinking on my part, but i'll hold out hope that the M's can return to Seattle. Besides, for some ungodly reason, i dont hate the yankees as much as i did at the start of the playoffs...dont get me wrong i still cant stand them winning, but something about my attitude toward them has changed...

Anyway, at least Arizona looks like they will take care of those Braves. I swear, those Atlanta fans dont deserve ANYTHING. The stadium wasnt even sold out last night. I guess they were all sitting on their porches in their little rocking chairs trying to spit tobacco into a small bucket. Bunch of assholes those Atlanta fans are.

FINALLY!!! The breaks are going AGAINST the yanks for once. Wouldnt it be so sweet if the yankees ended up blowing a 2 games to 0 lead and lose the series? Gotta take it one game at a time though, and im enjoying this game. 9-2 in the 6th, and Johnny Baseball hit a home run to give them the lead :)

PS...nice bullpen by the yanks today :)

**EDIT** Well id say this was about as good of a day as the committee is going to see. Braves get blown out, and the yanks get blown out :) 1 nmore game and the Braves are FINISHED!! Objective 2 almost complete :). Big game tommorrow with theM's, and i think that the M's can get the job done again. I just hope that they didnt get all their offense out in one game.

Well, mixed emotions on this day for me. First off, GOODBYE BRAVES!!! Thank you diamondbacks, and i hope they win the world series, although i will not watch the world series because the asshole yankees will be there too. Fucking Arthur Rhodes, you piece of shit...every fucking year you give up a big hit. And Sasaki sucks too. Why, oh why do the yanks always have to fucking win :(:(:(:(

I will now occupy my sports time on weekdays by watching hockey games, and preseason basketball games

Well, MY main rooting objective was accomplished; no longer will I have to hear that lame tomahawk chop chant (stolen from FSU) heard coming from a stadium with 9,000 empty seats. Ted Turner can go back to thinking the confederates never lost.

On the other side of the baseball world, The M's had their best chance, but couldn't close the door. Arthur Rhodes learned along with Benitez in the Oriole bullpen. As with the A's (and unfortunately with the Mets in last years game 1), you cannot let the other team get back when you have them down.

If, as expected, Yankees finish M's, it will be an interesting series. Although D-backs have 2 great pitchers, Yankees do better against hard throwers than junk ballers.

BTW sheets,
I did hear Guiliani this weekend say there would be a parade, although I can't imagine there being one in wall street.

CF,
while I share your pain, I don't have the same anti-yankee feelings; and (to be fair)most of the yankee fans here are reasonable (for Yankee fans :) )

What I'd love to see is Clemens pitch at Arizona, but unfortunately that isn't the current setup.

I was doing yardwork on Saturday and I was listening to WFAN. I was laughing hysterically listening to the leader of the crack committee, Mad Dog Russo. He was saying how he hates the Yankees so much now because his father would not let him watch the games or take him to games. He had to stare at a Joe Dimaggio poster in his bedroom. I think the leader of the crack committee needs to put in a rubber room soon.

It is amazing that most of the committee is coming to the realization yet again that the Yankees are going to win it.

Teenweek,
I heard the same exact thing on saturday at work. I was laughing my balls off, it at least provided for some funny radio. It was almost painful to listen to because he was so emotional about it, i thought he was going to start to cry lol.

quote:

Very true unfortunately. However, that doesnt mean that most of us acept it. I havent given up hope yet, although i am a bit more realistic now. And it makes my blood boil when the yankees win. I think i may need a rubber room next to the Mad Dog's room.

I was in the car saturday with my young son when I heard that. He was listening and asked me why Russo's father was so mean to him. I had to keep my laughter to myself and explain that Russo wasn't serious.

What a great game. That had to be up there with the atlanta game where leyritz homered, Mussina's game in oakland, Even game 1 last year against the Mets. As soon as Nelson came out and Rhodes came in every yankee fan knew things were looking good. I have to admit though, I didn't expect Soriano to hit a walk off. I think as soon as Bernie hit the HR, not only did the wind get knocked out of the mariners, but also out of the Committee.
When the Yanks rap it up, I'm looking forward to Arizona. Shilling pitched a 1 hitter against us couple years ago. Johsnon, well we owe him from 95 when he beat us with the Mariners...
