| O&A Board Veteran Registered: May. 00  | Thought I would put this out there for the 10-15 soccer fans on the board. The list of teams that have qualified for the cup next year. A very interesting field with some old favorites and some new faces mixed in. Well here is the list of the 30 teams who have already qualified as well as the 2 playoff match-ups that will decide the last 2 positions. Defending champion: France Co-hosts: Japan South Korea Europe (13 or 14): Poland Sweden Spain Russia England Croatia Portugal Denmark Italy Slovenia(first trip ever) Turkey Belgium Germany Playoffs: (Nov. 10, 15) Ireland vs. Iran South America (4 or 5): Argentina Paraguay Ecuador(first trip ever) Brazil Playoffs: (Nov. 20, 25) Uruguay vs. Australia Africa (5): Cameroon Nigeria Senegal Tunisia South Africa CONCACAF (3): Costa Rica United States Mexico Asia (2 or 3): China Saudi Arabia Playoffs: (Nov. 10, 15) Iran vs. Ireland Oceania (0 or 1): Playoffs: (Nov. 20, 25) Australia vs. Uruguay  I wonder what it’s like to be a super hero I wonder where I’d go if I could fly around downtown from some other planet, I get this funky high on yellow sun boy I bet my friends will all be...stunned, they’re stunned This message was edited by Faceman on 11-14-01 @ 10:56 PM | ||||

| O&A Board Veteran Registered: May. 00 | Just wanted to continue the thread here. The seeds for this saturdays World Cup draw where announced today and here is what the #1 seeds for the tournament will look like The #1 seeds are: Brazil, Italy, France, Argentina, Germany, Spain, North Korea and Japan. The first 6 made it off of merit and the last 2 because they are the hosts. Being left off the list was England, who qualified ahead of Germany in the same group during qualifiers and Mexico who barely qualified for the cup at all. Both would have had the points, according to the scoring system they use, in order to be a #1 seed. Looking over the draw it seems to be confusing as hell but its the way it was done 4 years ago and they are sticking to it. The U.S. will be thrown into pot #4, the last of the pots to be drawn, so they will have to wait until late to find out what group they are a part of.
