ATLANTA (AP) -- Gary Sheffield was traded from the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday for Brian Jordan, Odalis Perez and a minor league pitcher.

This could be bad news for the Mets pitching staff, even though Brian Jordan owned us, especially in the latter part of the season.

As a Dodger fan, I'm not sure I really like that trade. Sheff's bat is obviously very good, but he was underrated as an OF and had a very good arm. LA is in need of pitching though so hopefully Perez can turn out to be the pitcher he was projected to be when he was in the minors.

All i have to say is...SHIT!!!!!!

Guess the Braves have the best OF in the NL now, with Sheffield, and the Jones's. The Mets REALLY better get a pitcher soon, they gotta finish the deal for Astacio ASAP.

You gotta admire a team that does all it can to maintain their dominance in their division.

Mets fans, say hello to another Wild Card, if lucky.

Whom are these Jets of which you speak of?

What, you mean Agbayani, Payton, and Cedeno arent?

Seriously though if the Mets can somehow pull off that deal and get Burnitz and D'Amico for Rusch and Zeile, Ill go to war with that team and feel confident that we can finally take a Division Title from those fuckers down south.

Definitely FB, ill be right there with the Mets too if we can make that deal (even if they cant ill go to war with them). Ive been calling for D'Amico for a long time, Burnitz would be solid too.

Well its about time my team did something. I was getting worried that we were just going to sit on our hands and go with the status quo, Castilla notwithstanding. Jordan's last 2 seasons were subpar at best. The numbers were there but when he was signed he was expected to be the next "big thing" in the NL and he never developed into that as a Brave. Im happy with the trade. Now maybe we can find a 5th starter that can give us some innings but I'll be happy going to war with Maddux, Glavine and Jason Marquis as my 1-2-3 starters this year

Hope the Mets did enough this offseason to buy the Wild Card. :)

Oh, you Yankees fans. You know, just because a team get better doesn't mean the payroll has to skyrocket. Before Astacio, our payroll was actually down, and if we can dump some of Zeile's contract we'll have a slight increase. We still won't be near the $130 million Yankees but a little closer.

And happy 500th post to me.

Whoa, there is another Braves fan. I like getting Sheffield, but don't know about giving up Jordan. He may not have played like God, but I understand that he was a good presence in the locker room and training the rookies, and I have also heard that Sheffield is kind of a pain in the ass. Then again, we tolerated Rocker for longer than most teams would have. The other problem is that he is a free agent after this year. (for those who haven't figured it out yet, I like three teams and they're all in one division, Braves, Phillies, Mets)

Squid, theres a rule that says that what you just said is the dumbest remark on the face of the earth. I mean, it has to be mathematically impossible or something to like ALL 3 teams who fight for the same division title, especially when 2 of those teams have the biggest scumbag fans in the world (Braves and Phillies of course :))

You like the Mets, Braves, and Phillies.

So why stop there? Why dont just add the Marlins and Expos too.

I find it impossible how anybody can be a REAL fan of two teams in the same sport, nevermind 3, and nevermind it when two of them are Bitter Bitter Rivals in the Mets and Braves.

Maybe I should make LA, SF, and AZ my fav teams, so my fav team is sure to win the division.
