Just watching NFL 2night on ESPN, and on the bottom line, it says that Jon Gruden has agreed to 5 yr deal with the Bucs. Thats all i know, but this sucks for the Raiders. More explanation at 3pm on ESPN, and i'll post the story when i get it.

It was just funny as hell seeing Chris Mortensen was talking about Mariucci going to the Bucs while the bottom line thing was on the screen.

*EDIT* Here is the story from yahoo.

Jon Gruden hired as Bucs' coach

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden, thought to be out of the running, was hired Monday as coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bucs said that Gruden had received a five-year deal. Terms were not disclosed.

The 38-year-old Gruden, the NFL's youngest head coach, has a 40-28 record in four seasons as the Raiders' coach. He led the team to the AFC title game a year ago, and the Raiders lost this year in a second-round game to eventual Super Bowl champion New England after blowing a 10-point lead in the final quarter.

Gruden replaces Tony Dungy, who was fired Jan. 14.

After that, the Bucs had been rejected by Bill Parcells, then failed to reach agreement with the Raiders on a deal for Gruden, whose contract with Oakland doesn't expire until the end of next season.

Last weekend, they talked to San Francisco coach Steve Mariucci about the coach and general manager job, but were unable to reach agreement. Mariucci sought a seven-year, $42 million package.

The Bucs said the compensation for Gruden would be announced Wednesday, whenthe new coach will be introduced in Tampa.

I guess this means that Dennis Green will end up coaching Oakland.

Could be. He likes to throw the ball which fits Raiders tradition.
