With steroid use coming into the media quite a bit now i'm just wondering what everyone thinks about the use of steroids in the mlb/nhl or whether anyone had a story about the 'roids that they wanted to share.

Well with all the home-runs this season so far, I think they should definitely check for steroids, it is unreal.

May I also add, does anyone find it odd 2 times this year 4 home runs have been hit in 1 game. Something is really up.

Well if they are going to check for steroids they can save time and not bother checking the team that plays in Flushing. We know damn well not anybody is taking steroids there.

Part of me thinks that anyone who takes steroids deserves what they get. They know what that shit can/might do to them before they take them.

Still, you have to test for them, if for no other reason than to make it fairer to guys who are smart enough to avoid them. If top players are using roids to get an edge, they are fucking over guys who don't both in playing time and money.

Where is the line drawn? Drugs are drugs. I thought that steroids are to help you heal: lungs, muscles, general health. Now, in any sport, I don't think that they should be used. If you were playing in HS or college, they have a 'no-tolerant' policy on any form of enhancer (in Pittsburgh, at least). Why should that change when you become a professional?

Now, steroids in professional fishing is becoming a HUGE problem.

Without steriods I wouldn't be able to respond to all of these threads.

Half the players in baseball are probably using steriods. Look where it got Caminiti

2002 Crack Committee Objectives:
1. 94 Wins and NL East Title by the Mets this year
2. Hate the Braves with a passion
3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year
4. Mets win World Series
5. Roger Clemens finally steps into the batters box at Shea.

I had to take some prescribed "roids" before. I tore ligaments in both of my feet(not at the same time though)and taking painkillers and resting just wasn't cutting it.

Man, I tell you what. Whatever the doctor prescribed was some strong stuff. I was back wrestling in like 2 weeks. I had to wear ankle immobilizers and ACE bandages(for padding) on both feet for the rest of the season, but that's beside the point.

Steriods are beneficial, provided they are only used when absolutely needed. If recovery time isn't much of an issue for you, then you probably shouldn't take them.

Use all your well-learned politesse, or I'll lay your soul to waste.

All right, children. Let's all point and laugh.

But we do not know that. They should test the whole league. If you have nothing to hide than it should not be a problem.

Referring to the original topic post, what about the NHL? I'm not a huge hockey fan, but I was under the impression that being bigger and stronger isn't a big advantage for anyone except the bruisers. Not so?

In hockey .... if you dope you will be able to skate faster and it will help the smaller guys not get banged around so much because they will be able to hit back with some power ....

Steriod abuse, as well as abuse of many other drugs is something that is really coming under fire across the spectrum of competitive sports. The NCAA has added a whole bunch of over the counter dietary supplements to its banned list, the same thing as the NFL. Things that seem mild like Stacker 2 will cause you to lose eligibility if it turns up in your blood stream. I coach College and we had a week long presentation /discussion on this stuff. It is really getting heated, but for good reason. Earlier this year a swimmer collapsed and died on a pool bulkhead from seemingly a heart attack. Later, an autopsy, showed that there was a high level of ephedra (like the stuff in over the counter "energy" pills) in his blood stream, that and the workout apparently raised his heart rate over the safe threshhold and he went into tacychardia(sp?) and died. Obviously, to me the winning at any cost, attitude is wrong.

D'oh! About the only exercise I ever get (got, really) is lifting, so I was thinking that the only benifit to roids is bulking up. On occasion, I can be as dumb as a bag full of hammers.
