Ive only been a fan for 15 years so my history with them is not so long, but while ive been rooting for them there have been many dark days

10. beuk injured and leaves game 7
9. this current 4 year mess
8. 95 strike pospones our first banner raising in 55 years
7. islanders beat rangers in the final week in 93 to kill the ranger playoff hopes
6. rangers blow 3-1 series lead against vancouver
5. leetch breaks his ankle on the street 4 days after returning from a serious injury in 93
4. keenan bolts after winning the cup
3. messier skips town in 97
2. francis 60 foot goal in 92 which crushed that great season
1. devils score with 7 seconds left

if youve followed the team longer then feel free to list more bad moments....btw ranger fans, sorry to remind u of all of this

Good Post Menino, I will analyze this further

10. beuk injured and leaves game 7- Forgot about that, didnt mean that much because they still won

9. this current 4 year mess- Obviously.

8. 95 strike pospones our first banner raising in 55 years- Not really that bad because they raised in 3 months later anyway, in a loss to Buffalo that night.

7. islanders beat rangers in the final week in 93 to kill the ranger playoff hopes- Great Pass by Tony Amonte right on the tape of Turgeon's Stick. Good call their Menino.

6. rangers blow 3-1 series lead against vancouver. That series had no business going 7 games, and if McLean didnt stand on his head in Game 1, the Rangers would of swept that series.

5. leetch breaks his ankle on the street 4 days after returning from a serious injury in 93. Terrible, but thankfully Leetch really hasnt been injured much since, except last year, when they played their best hockey.

4. keenan bolts after winning the cup. That definetly was a crusher. Personally the guy is probably a Prick, but I guarantee if he was the coach right now, we would be a playoff team, because he doesnt put up with the bogus efforts, and the scumbags like Kamensky.

3. messier skips town in 97. Definetly. Couldnt have worked out any worse for both parties.

2. francis 60 foot goal in 92 which crushed that great season. God Damn Richter, That Cup was ours in 92.

1. devils score with 7 seconds left. I was literally crying right there. Worst moment ever. Thankfully the greatest moment ever followed about an hour and a half later.

Some other things Ill throw in.

- The Stike in 92 with 2 games left in the season. The Rangers had won the Presidents Trophy and were crusing and a 2-3 week strike occured and then it was finally resolved and the Rangers momentum was gone, and they beat the Devils in the First Round, but were beat by the eventual Cup Champion, Penguins in the 2nd Round.

- Dino Ciccarelli's OT Goal ends the Rangers season in 1990. The Rangers had just beaten the Islanders in the First Round, and won Game 1 against the Capitals something like 6-0. It was a blowout, but lost the next 5 games, and Ciccarelli won it in OT to clinch the series.

- Eric Lindros' goal with 7 seconds left to win Game 4 in the 97 East Finals, and essentially win that series.

- Jeff Beaukeboom's pass right to a guy on the Penguins whose name escapes me at the moment in Game 4 of the 96 Series. Very similar to the Amonte giveaway against the Islanders in 93. The Rangers were down 2 games to 1, and down 1 in Game 4, and Beaukeboom had an AWFUL giveaway which led to a goal and put the game and essentialy the series away for Pittsburgh.

- This 23 Game winless streak against the Devils.

- The Signing of Valeri Kamenksy.

- The Signing of Mike Keane and Brian Skrudland.

- Game 5 of the 1994, Stanley Cup Finals, Esa Tikkanen's blast from inside the blue line which was negated by a Bogus Offsides Call, which would have given the Rangers an early lead and changed the tide of that game.

- Game 5 of the 1994, Stanley Cup Finals, The 3rd Period started with a 1-0 Canucks lead, Vancouver got 2 quick goals to seemingly put it away at 3-0. The Rangers though came right back and scored 3 quick goals to have the Garden Rocking and tied at 3-3, with the Cup seeming imminent. 20 Seconds after they tied it, Dave Babych, basically just throws the puck on net from the boards, and somehow it gets past Mike Richter, to kill all the momentum, and Vancouver wins the game 6-3.

Thats what I have.

probably. But that goal still hurt tremendously. And if we got that game to Overtime and won, who knows what would of happened.

Nobody thought we would beat New Jersey in the 2nd Round either, but we made quick work of them, and havent beaten them since.

I posted this on the Domi thread but a dark moment for me was watching as a kid and seeing the Boston Bruins come into the Ranger stands to beat the shit out of the fans.
Also the Ron Dugay and Co. Sasson jeans ad still makes me sick.
