OK its the First Day of the Baseball season, so lets start throwing out predictions for this upcoming season. And if we get a search option back, at the end of the season we can go back and see who look like geniuses and who dont.

Here are my predictions.

NATIONAL LEAGUE WILDCARD PLAYOFF GAME
San Francisco over NY Mets

NATIONAL LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES
San Francisco over Atlanta in 5
Arizona over St. Louis in 4

AMERICAN LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES
Oakland over Chicago in 4
NY Yankees over Cleveland in 5

NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Arizona over San Francisco in 7

AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
NY Yankees over Oakland in 7

2001 WORLD SERIES
Arizona over NY Yankees in 7

2001 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS
Arizona Diamondbacks

Thats right Arizona Diamondbacks, bet you wont hear that anywhere else. I love the Johnson-Schilling combo, where if they get into the Playoffs that will be a hard thing to stop. Plus they have one of the best closers in the game in Mantei. I expect a come back season from Matt Williams. They can use another bat out there, and with the money that Jerry Colangelo has, Im sure if they are in contention, they can get it. Sure its a Darkhorse pick, but its better than saying the Yankees.

And I hope Im wrong about the Mets. They are still going to be good, but theres too many question marks on this team, where if things go wrong, it can turn out to be a disaster. I do predict them to go 90-72.

Hey it's prediction. If I knew I was right I would be a millionaire. :) I knoe Steve Phillips fucked up this off season. I feel with Ventrua bouncing back Payton and Benny with another year under thier belts, and Alfonzo and Pizza doing their usual. I feel we have a shot. I think Glendon Rusch is going to be the surprise this season. I don't trust Appier, he is kinda old and had a lot of run support in Oakland. The bullpen is strong I think we have a shot. The Braves a hurting right now maybe we can get off to a good start beat them down in Turner Field and hopefully get that monkey off our backs about playing down there.

LET"S GO METS!!!

Steve Phillips must be hitting the pipe if he thinks an over the hill guy like Kevin Appier is gonna even come close to filling in for Hampton. The Mets offense is weak as hell. Piazza and Alfonzo... what else jack shit. If they don't make any deals the might not even finish .500

NL East Atlanta
NL Central Milwaukee
NL West San Francisco
Wildcard Cincinnati
AL East Yankees
AL Central Chicago
AL West Oakland
AL Wildcard Kansas City

World Series Oakland over San Francisco

You heard it here!!!

The Mets aren't going to go that far into the playoffs even if they do make it. To tell you the truth nobody thought that the Mets would make it to the series last year and they did.

NL East
Braves
NL Central
Cardinals
NL West
Giants
NL Wildcard
Dodgers
AL East
Yanks
AL Central
Indians
AL West
Oakland
World Series
Yanks over Giants in 6

LETS GO YANKEES!

If you want to say the Mets arent going to the World Series or even the playoffs, I can buy that. But they will be well over .500. And Mike Hampton only won 15 games last year, thats not impossible to replace. They will miss Hampton the most come Playoff Time if they get that far.

With the defense & bullpen that the Dodgers have, they aren't going anywhere quickly, especially in the West which is probably the toughest division to play in now.

I predict that at some point this summer I'm going to be down by the inner harbor of Baltimore checking out a Yanks-Orioles series at Oriole Pk. , getting shit-faced at Bambino's, and woofing down on Boog's roast-beef sandwiches.

I'm going to go against the grain a little.

AL E - Yanks / AL W - Mariners / Al C - Tigers

wildcard: Blue Jays or A's

NL E - Mets / NL W - Dodgers / NL C - Cubs

wildcard: Cardinals or DiamondBacks

If this brilliant wackiness appears to be working out, I'll give further advancement brackets after the allstar game.

Any other guys/gals out there who try and tour America's Baseball stadiums or parks ? I enjoy visiting as many as possible....

my faves so far : Yankee Stadium, Wrigley Field, Oriole Park. , Fenway, old Comiskie, and SkyDome.

As a huge Mets fan, i am happy to hear everyone doubting there ability so we can shove it up everyone's ass. Appier did have run support but no defense in Oakland. Bobby Cox said if he could pick one young pitcher it would be Rusch. that is a huge compliment. piazza and alfonso are locks. ventura has to improve from last year. agbyani, payton, and timo are a year older and wiser. If you think a world series team a year ago will finish below .500, you are high.

As a Met fan:
NL east: Mets
NL central: Cards
NL west: D'backs
NL wildcard: Astros

AL east: Sox
AL central: Indians
AL west: A's
AL wildcard: Yanks

NL Playoffs:
Mets over Cards
D'backs over Astros

Mets over D'backs

AL Playoffs:
Indians over Yanks
Sox over A's

Indians over Sox

Series: Mets over Indians

But realistically:
NL east: Braves
NL cental: Cards
NL west: D'backs
NL wildcard: Mets

AL east: Yanks
AL central: Indians
AL west: A's
AL wildcard: Rangers

NL playoffs:
D'backs over Mets
Cards over Braves

Cards over D'backs

AL playoffs:
Yankees over Rangers
Indians over A's

Yankees over Indians

Series:
Yankees over Cards

This is the first time in about 6 years that there are 9-10 teams that can make the playoffs in the NL and about 6-7 in the AL. Sorry this was so long.

I won't make any predictions until the first week is over then i will, but i do think that theres plenty of teams who were horrible last year that have a shot at a winning season this year.

NL East
Braves - They again have a great pitching staff
NL Central
Cardinals - A solid team
NL West
Giants - My sleeper choice
NL Wildcard
Cincinnati

AL East
Yankees - The best in baseball again - Forget the SI Cover curse.
AL Central
Indians
AL West
Oakland
AL Wildcard
Chicago - Good all-around team
World Series
Yanks over Braves in 6

I do think the Mets will do well, but they will be playing golf in October (or drinking beers, or smoking crack, depending on the player.)

Ok let me get this strait I am high... Lets recap The Mets have a below average first base man. I don't wanna here oh he will hit .280 20 Hr 100 RBI that is below average in baseball now for a first baseman. A shortstop who hits worse than most pitchers, I don't give a shit how good a fielder he is, he needs to hit. The Mets also lay claim to the worst outfield in Baseball, go a head and find one worse, you can't. There starting pitching is weak. Mike Hampton is one of the top ten pitchers in the league. You just don't fill that void with some over the hill half ass starter.

Someone picked Detroit to win the Central, ummm why. They have no pitching and they have about 3 guys on the team that can hit. They also picked the Cubs to win the central, nuff said. This is the person you should ask if the question "are you high"

Considering Smoltz hasn't pitched in over a year and is starting the season on the DL, plus Maddux will miss at least his first start, I wouldn't expect a return to their old form quite yet.

the mets have the worst outfield in baseball?
why was it good enough to get them to the series last year. look at the twins outfield of maybe the pirates. if the Todd Ziele is below average then tino martinez is one of the worst in baseball. Every met fan must love that no one is giving them a shot in hell. we wouldn't want it any other way.

Twins and Pirates... Do you follow baseball ... or are you just throwing out teams that you know aren't very good. Cause the Pirates have this guy in the outfield Brian Giles... have you heard of him??? he's a .300 40hr 140 RBI man. Better than the Mets shitty outfield combined. And honestly even Minnesota with Hunter, Lawton, and Jones have a better outfield than the Mets. I never said Tino was great, where did you get that from... Mets don't make a deal or two they are dead

Moby, the Mets also have the Best Hitting Catcher of all time, and the best hitting 2nd Baseman in the game right now, so that cancels things out. Who cares what position they place when it comes to batting? I never understood that.

King F-Tard, Giants as a sleeper team? Picking the team that finished with the Best Record in Baseball last year, and is the favorite to win their Division again, doesnt equal a sleeper.

Why is it that only Met fans realize that Zeile is a standout player at first base? Everyone knocked his defense, yet he was clutch on the bag....after the beginning of the season errors were a rarity with him.

Alfanso is not the best hitting second baseman in the game so bzzzzzzzzzzz wrong on that one. Piazza is a great player, he is one of the top catchers in baseball right now. It does not even out. If you look at The Mets over all they are just not that good. They over achieved last year, they are old and lost their best pitcher. This season it will play out, you will see.
