Really? since I predicted them to go to the Stanley Cup Finals, and all along have mentioned how great of a team they are.

Do I hate the Devils? Of course! Im a Ranger fan, thats in the job description, but I tell it as it is. All you Devil fans love Scott Stevens, but if you were on the other side of the fence and you were a Carolina fan, you would hate his guts too. Scott Stevens is the type of guy that you love him when he's on your team, and you Dispise him when he's the opposition.

I never called any of Stevens' hits dirty, and I dont even think the hit on Willis was that bad. It was 2-0 at the time, not 6-0.

My gripe with Stevens and facts back it up, time after time, is that he is very hesitant to drop the gloves when challenged by a Tough Guy, but if a lesser guy is willing to go with Stevens, Stevens is ready.

But Im anti-Devils it makes you sick, because I dont kiss Scott Stevens'ass like all Devil Fans.

Lesson 6 : Ron Francis!!!!

... and Francine Banger ..... he is the captain, leader, and a huge part of the defense of this team. It would be stupid for him to drop his gloves for every little petty fight that someone picks with him, that would be hurting his team, not helping.

Good point, but that didnt seem to bother him when Sandis Ozolinsh was ready to fight.

Hey Francine Banger, Ozilinsh aint a pussy, he can defend himself and hes not a small little foward like Bure or Fleury. Another thing, is that it might look like Stevens is backin down from Mcarthy but its all strategy and mind games when he does that. He does that to get under their skin. he even said it last night on the news when they interviewed him, he said that when the other team is concentrating him the whole time its perfect cuz then hes doin his job, and the other team wont be able to play the game the right way cuz thell have him on their minds the entire time. Oh and one more thing, if stevens was on another team, i would still like him, cuz hes a hardhitting player who takes noones shit. Thats all i have to say on the subject.

Opie, if the Devils are playing the Penguins, and Darius Kasparaitis goes out and knocks Bobby Holik and Alexander Mogilny out of the game. Then tell me how much you like him because hes a tough hitter.

Its impossible to like him, if he's not on your side.

And Sandis Ozolinsh is FAR from a tough guy. He's a Brian Leetch type Defensemen.

Stevens isn't smart enough to play mind games.

Seriously though, early in his career he'd mix it up with anyone and for that he earned respect around the league.

No question he's a Hall of famer and a great defenseman. It just seems that now he's reluctant to mix it up with heavyweights.

See Francine Banger's post earlier in this thread. He was ready to go with Nedved but as soon as Sandy McCarthy stepped in he backed down.

And Sarcastro, I never said trying to intimidate and checking forwards wasn't part of a defenseman's job. I said leaving your feet is fucking dirty hit. And he left his feet on that hit on Francis.

Ohhh...he left his feet. Im telling! Ive never, ever seen anyone leave their feet for a check before in my life!! Next your gonna tell me that guys use their sticks to crosscheck other players! Your ruining my image of hockey!! Im gonna have to take down my Scott Stevens posters now, because he's such a bad guy.

I think there are about half a dozen dirty hits a game in hockey like: the goalie hitting the legs of a player who skates in front of his crease, a defenseman pushing a forward to the ice then giving him a hit on the back with the stick when he gets up, and, of course, players leaving their feet all over the ice to make checks( and occasionally getting nothing but air and looking stupid).

Stevens is one of the BEST stay-at-home D-men in the WORLD !!! {and thsi is comming from A NYR fan} he is also smart enought to know that he is better on the ice than in the BOX -- that is why he picks his spots to puch someone around -- what is better for his team -- to take Nedved to the box or McCarthy? to take Ozolinsh to the box or Langdon --- That is why he picks his spots. the only time I blame him for backing down was at the end of the 4-0 win over NYR and Sandy McCarthy changled him and he did nothing to try to really go.

thats exactly what i meant Raven but i guess Banger doesnt understand that. And another thing Banger, it only looked like he left his feet cuz he leaned into the check which brought the back of his skates off the ice, and in any case, Stevens wouldnt have to leave his feet to knock someone down, he uses his body size and strength, and add that with the speed that he skates at and u have a pretty lethal weapon on the ice.

Alright you go and find where I said anything about Stevens leaving his feet. If anything Ive said time and time how his hits have been clean.

And I do understand how he doesnt need to be in the box all the time, but he doesnt need to be in the box with Nedved either, but he does. He doesnt need to go to the box with Ozolisnh, but he does.

Domi is too tough, more like Mats Sundin or Sergei Berezin.
