No Kidding, Marbury going to Suns

Kidd

Marbury

The Suns are sending first-team All-NBA point guard Jason Kidd to the Nets for point guard Stephon Marbury. Suns owner Jerry Colangelo confirmed the deal at a news conference on June 28. He said other players would be involved, but Kidd and Marbury were the main components of the deal. "The rest is mainly just to make salary cap numbers work," said Colangelo. The deal will not be made official until July 18 because of base compensation and contract issues, but the agreement has already been made between the teams.

It was necessary. Trading one All Star point guard for another isnt that great an improvement, but Marbury was growing discontent. When the other players involved are revealed, well get a better sense of if this benefits the Nets. Kidd for Marbury is just a lateral move for the Nets as far as I can tell.

You got that right! A point guard alone won't get you anywhere. Yeah they have Martin, but they play with five men on the floor, not two. And they need some decent talent comming off the bench.

Nets get Kidd and Chris Dudley. Suns get Marbury and Johnny Newman.

they are the two best point guards in the league outside of Gary Payton, so i don't think either team really improved themselves. now they just have different all-world point guards.

I wish it was Bubba instead of Chris.

Dudley was crap the 1st time he was a Net. But having Kidd is going alot. Marbury was overrated, and over paid. I'm going to miss Newman though, he was an old school Net, been there the longest.

This trade is even worse than the Eddie Griffin trade. What are they doing? Jason Kidd is good and all but Marbury is better and a few years younger. Jason Kidd cant take over a game like Stephon Marbury can. Jason Kidd can feed off a good team but he has never been The Main man.

Not a bad move by the Nets.

*Marbury never really endeared himself to his teammates or fans. He has great great scoring ability, but I don't think he makes his teammates better which a pg should be doing.

*Kidd wore out his welcome in Phoenix w/ the wife beating incident, so now a fresh start may be a good thing for him. He won't ballhog so he should get along well w/ teammates and make them better.

Marbury's "taking over a game" skills lead the Nets to 31 and 26 wins respectively. Perhaps Kidd's non-taking over abilities will benefit this team more. They really cant lose any more games.

Eddie Griffin for three first round picks? Why not? Why have a disgruntled child on your team who will give up when things arent going right like Eddie Griffin? You think Eddie Griffin woulda ever been anything for the Nets? Did anyone really wanna see what Eddie Griffin was gonna do in a losing professional lockerroom? Punch Byron Scott? Get him out of New Jersey and maybe hell do alright....in five years.

Sorry Francie, but you can't judge the draft choice trade w/Houston for at least 3 years. Plenty of 'can't miss' talent have swung and missed. Jordan couldn't win it all by himself, it's a team game. Kidd is capable of a triple-double every night - I think he is near the top in steals each year also.

The public relations 'trouble' have been moved out of town (Cliff Robinson had a DWI recently, I beleive). Who knows, Penny could be next

A GREAT trade for the Nets, as far as I'm concerned. Marbury is a great individual player, but a crappy team player, and basketball is a team game. Jason Kidd is a great all around PG, led the league in assists, and his defense is WORLDS better than Marbury's. Marbury is a better jump shooter, but that's where it ends.

Picking up Dudley is a plus as well. Sure, he has no offense, but he's still a great defender and rebounder. And the Nets DESPERATELY need interior defense.

And concerning Eddie Griffin, I'm fucking glad they traded him. I'm a HUGE Seton Hall fan (both my parents went there), but this guy did nothing for them. Sure, he's talented, but he's also a locker room cancer. Anyone remember how the Hall was a preseason Final Four favorite? Remember how they did in the NIT? Eddie Griffin, heh...good riddance!!

Good call Jewdown.

Could you imagine the ratings that Nets blowouts would get. Nets down 30. Early 4th. All of a sudden a firework shoots out of the scoreboard and Bubba explodes from the locker room and proceeds to 3D every opponent through flaming tables. I think he would probably tag with Eschmeyer.
