Do you think Favre is worth this?

``I do want to be a Packer for life,'' the 31-year-old Favre said during a conference call. ``I couldn't envision myself playing with another team. ... Don't want to. If that was to ever come up, I probably would just retire.''

Favre, the ironman quarterback who has the NFL record for consecutive starts with 141, receives a $10 million signing bonus and the new deal cuts $4 million off his salary cap number which would have been $9,474,000. Favre hopes to play through 2006, making his deal essentially a six-year package for cap purposes.

I guarantee Favre will not be playing in 2006.
He will be forced out of the game well before that. And if he is playing then, it will be in a limited capacity.

he's one of the only chances that the Green Bay Packers will win the Super Bowl.I doubt he will be playing in 2006.He will probaly quit in 2004.the Green Bay Packers will probaly win another Super Bowl once more and then they will stink like the Denver Broncos.

you guys are right, he'll prolly retire b4 2006, but you gotta admire the guy ("gotta give him a lotta credit!") for wanting to stay with his team and sacrificing pay to do so. in today's bullshit, money-driven sports world, it's not very often that you see someone spend an entire career w/ one team. ex: ray borque - great hockey player, always will be remembered as a bruin, but now he's on the avs, just so he could win a championship. i don't really fault the guy for that, he's been in the league forever, so he's one of the good ones.
another ex: steve yzerman. signed a multi-year deal to keep himself w/ detroit for basically the remainder of his career, so i admire his loyalty and passion a lot.

thanx for reading my short story, next i'll be working on poetry and then moving on to my feature-length novel :p

If they had some sort of offensive line..he could make it to 2006.....but that, in all honesty...is not going to happen

I agree with Froy. The Packers are a good team and all, but they definately need someone else. Farve is not Superman, he can pull a Testeverdi on them and get injured in the first play of the first game of the season, and then the Packers are screwed.

Hey look. I finally learned how to use the EDIT button!!!

They don't need a miracle, they need an offenseive & a defensive line. Their secondary is great, and their backfield is solid so long as they are healthy. A good tight end wouldn't hurt either.

you can't write off bubba franks entirely. sure he had a less than spectacular rookie year, but a guy named tony gonzalez also struggled for his first couple of years. if he starts for the whole year and plays up to his potential, he could be a good target for favre.
