I was walking back from lunch a few mins ago and noticed one of the many t-shirt stands here in manhattan that are selling those stupid "I survived the blackout of 2003" t-shirts.
So I get a quick glimpse of a not so friendly t-shirt that actually hit a nerve with me....and it said this:

"First 9/11, then the blackout of 2003. What next?"

Who in their right fucking minds would have the nerve to create a shirt like that?
And people would actually be stupid enough to go & buy that!!! That took a lot of balls to create a shirt like that.

Yeah, I'm peeved...but not as pissed as my signif other who would've went over to him & tore him a new asshole, had he not been in a lot of pain w/his back....

:mad::mad:
I actually saw one of these...

In my own house.

My sister bought one of these. She was down in the area when 9/11 happened, but her fat ass was at my aunt's house in the Hamptons when the blackout hit. She sat in the pool playing with my niece and nephew for 5 hours surrounded by tiki torches while the lights were out.

I on the other hand, was stuck by Battery Park and it took me 6 hours to get home Then I had to walk up the 6 flights and sit in the dark all night because the power was out for 17 1/2 hours by me.

I actualy whiped my sister in the face with her shirt. Both because it disgust me any time someone profits off of 9/11, and when people use it as a badge of honor when they were safe.

Scumbags

that sounds like me,
I would be such an ass kicker if it wasn't for my bad back and other assorted ailments which always flare up when danger shows it's ugly head.

Shit, I think Ive done that to two of Kens posts today. Damn it.
This one really pisses me off. They try to make a profit off something like this. There are shirts that commemorate those that died(NYPD/FD/PAPD memorial shirts) I don't see these as making a profit as much as trying to raise a few bucks for the families. You got thru the black out?? Yeah so the fuck what?? People need to feel good about themselves. Make them feel like they did something wonderful, so you walked home, big fuckin deal. As for the Sept 11th stuff sold out on the street, these people are real pieces of shit. Especially the ones that sell the shirts and hats that say Ground Zero on them. It's not a fuckin tourist attraction. My theory on these scumbags is simple. Either they have no personal connection to it, they have no conciensce at all, or they are those people who openly cheered and danced in the street when the towers came down. Anything for a buck to send home to their families who will probably use the money to fund the next group of suicide bombers.

Because of course, the Twin Towers coming down is akin to me having to throw spoiled eggs out. :fire:
I remember these shirts being sold in Times Square just a few days after 9/11 for $10 a pop. I actually asked the guy how he could even think this was a good idea (at which point 2 browsers who were looking at them quickly put them down and walked away) and his excuse was that that he was just working for somebody else, he didn't make them.
Needless to say, I was happy to see that same table a week later with a stack of shirts just as high, but now trying to be sold for $2. At least the bastards got stuck with a lot of unsold inventory.
This wouldn't be America if morons didn't try to make money off of someone else's tragedy. Once Iraqis have electricity, expect to see tshirts along the lines of "they had a regime change and all I got was arrested."

The same jackasses who, during a sweltering summer day in the midst of the blackout, upped the prices on bottled water to $5, or even $10.

The same idiots who, if they were driving a cab, charged up to $400-500 for a ride from Manhattan to Queens.

Consider it the downside of our capitalist society. The same ideals which promote financial opportunity for everyone also translates into sometimes heartless tactics to get an extra buck out of the consumer.
