I was wondering if they were gonna do Predator justice by making up for the horrible second one. I could see Rock in this movie and making it work. Opinions?

***September 02, 2003 - With an interesting script for Predator 3 circulating in Hollywood, the question has come up: who will play Schwarzenegger's character "Dutch" if the Austrian Oak becomes the governor of California?

Another fit, muscle-bound celebrity is needed, and one name that has been suggested is The Rock, the wrestler-cum-actor who hit it big with The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King. Moviehole reports that according to Sam Park, The Rock is a leading contender for the role. Park, by the way, is the writer of Predator 3: The Deadlier of the Species, the script that seems like the best contender for a second Predator sequel.

For his part, Park hopes to pitch his treatment to Fox soon. "I think [The Rock playing Dutch] is an excellent idea and could insure the franchise continuing on for many years – [fellow writer] Clay McBride and I have definite ideas for sequels with some bizarre twists for the Dutch character and the Predators that we believe will keep the franchise stories fresh and exciting for decades," Park told Moviehole. "Mind you I and Clay do not have any involvement with Fox in any way at this point. It's their franchise and characters to do with as they please. Hopefully we'll get a crack at presenting the Predator 3 story treatment to them soon."

Of course, if Arnold doesn't succeed in his gubernatorial bid, he may just want in on Predator 3. We'll keep you posted!

is the Dutch character really that essential to the Predator story arc?

I mean, hey, The Rock would make a great Dutch I'm sure...as long as he doesn't get wacky-zany with it.

I'd see him in such a movie but I would probably wait until I saw a preview or two before deciding solidly one way or the other.

Summer 2005 the earliest I would gather if this movie does get made.

Competing with SW: Episode III actually, if that was the case.

I heard they are making Alien VS Predator too. I dont know how true it is, but I would assume it would have to be after that too.

I would watch PredvsAliens first over Predator 3...

Predator 3 would just be another stand alone "episode" of sorts...its not like there are loose ends from part II.

And I've been wanting to see the PredatorvsAliens movie ever since I came across a comic book of it.

I do wonder though about the plot line for that - like FreddyvsJason, you can't expect FOX to kill off one franchise in leiu of another...so, the ending has to be big yet not final for either the Aliens or the Predators....

hmmm, guess us moviegoers will have to wait and see.

Eh, they can kill em both off in the movie and still have more come back.

The one thing I'd like to see aside from the Aliens/Predator match up, is Batman/Predator. There was a comic that came out about 11-12 yrs ago that was friggin incredible. That would totally rock.

well, for that to happen, the big wigs at Warner Bros (still the owners of Batman movie rights, I believe) and the big wigs at FOX (owners of the Predator property) would have to get together and figure something out.

I wouldn't mind seeing such a movie - it would help make the batman series nice and dark like the first one.

It may be bullshit, Im just puttin out what I see. I think it would be cool though.
