Lighten up people Jesus Christ.

Saturday after joyously watching Miami lose I had to listen to sportscasters bitch and moan about this guys comments...
Quote:\"It's war,\" Winslow said Saturday, his voice raised in the locker room. \"They're out there to kill you, so I'm out there to kill them. We don't care about anybody but this U. They're going after my legs. I'm going to come right back at them. I'm a ... soldier.\"

I don't see the big deal...

I believe the "big deal" is that, while we have young men and women thousands of miles away from home being shot at and killed on a regular basis, he is likening himself to being one of them.

Yes, I understand that we often talk about the "heat of battle" in sports, and that the gridiron is sort of a battlefield, but in the end, it is only a game. I really don't care how pissed he was that his team got beaten, but they were not out to kill him, nor should he have been set to kill his opponent ('cause you know, that could be misconstrued as premeditated murder).

Have people overreacted? Of course.

Should he have just kept his mouth shut from the get-go? Definitely.

The question is should he have to apologize?

Anytime people talk out there ass it's an indication of the kind of person they are and we shouldn't read too far into everything and get so offended that we are calling for someone to apologize. I saw this guy ranting and I was like wow he's pretty pissed *click*. That should have been the end of it. I honestly don't care if he is sorry for what he says. The fact that he has to apologize just makes him out to be bigger than he is to the point that his apology matters.

I'm just so tired of everyone having to be so god damn apologetic for everything that comes out of there mouth.
It was a bad analogy to use. People overreacted, he apologized, families have been torn apart and governments have crumbled, let's just move on....
As long as we live in a society where people are expected to apologize for saying what's on their minds I will always be pissed about these things. Sure if people get offended so be it that's their right. And if they look down on this guy for his comments now that's fine too. He said something that made sense to me offended others and I guess he gets what's coming to him. The whole thing that pisses me off is simply the public outcry for an apology that we hear whenever someone says something mildy offensive to some.
He should have said he's a faggot and hell bent on inflicting AIDS-like pain on his opponents.
or something about beating a slave
