that is the other thing: anyone who did not listen to them before syndication has nothing to compare it to, unless they dig for old stuff. But, I cannot deny that there was a bit of a drop-off between the two.
I listened to them in Boston; never pre-syndication in NY.

They were not as good post syndication as they were in Boston. And from there it was a steady drop, where they were fucking horrible a year later when they got canned.
obviously thats all subjective and entitled to...moreover, to your original issue, I do not think they became what they railed against. But, eventually they will. The rebel son always becomes his father in the end.
They'll have no choice but to "simma down a bit" if they want to keep their jobs on their next go-around.

Hottie nailed it for me though.

I've never assessed it beyond that.

Why so he can delete us all?

You'd think he'd have enough material after all that time off. But, he's just a super wizard or some shit on EQ.

So you people aren't of the opinion that for the last year of the show (at least), it was everything they'd rallied against?
schticky and Zany (Norton)
Fake (the overreaching guffaws about things not too funny, and fawning over women in their studios who were certainly not worthy of it)
Formulaic (contest after contest after contest and a variety of other scheduled bits)

While I won't go as far as saying it was everything they rallied against, I do agree that post-syndication was nowhere as good as pre-syndication.

Sure, they still made me laugh more times than not, but you could tell that once they got that hefty paycheck they didn't feel the need to try as hard anymore.
