As I was saying in a discussion at a bar on Sat night...it is truly hard to gauge how Ali would do against any of them. Ali used the pre-fights, interviews, and conferences to get in his opponents head. sometimes he did, sometimes he didn't. But, he seemed to go in with a plan..and it's really hard to gauge the in-ring b/c in these games and in our mind..we think of only the fights and the skills.
And its hard to say if he was only so good, because he was a different kind of fighter in that era, he was one of the first prototypical "modern day" boxers. He emerged during the beginning of a change in styles and skills, also there was pretty much a lack of quality opponents till the tail end of his career. Much like Tyson.
What a joke that was and the sad thing is many have said Wladimir was the better of the two and the better chance to be champ. Clearly his shot is gone now.

As for Vitali, as much as I wanted to see him destroy Lewis, he sucks as bad as his brother does. Granted they both have great power, but they are too clumsy and awkward in the ring. Neither one has any great skills. Definitely not championship material skills anyway.
They dont have boxing smarts. They have the physical ability, and the skills, just not the knowledge.

Sorry, I just don't see it. To me they look like slow, clumsy oafs in the ring and as soon as their opponent is falling, they trip over them.
I think they know WHAT to do, and have the ability to do it, its just they dont know what to do when. They dont know how to anticipate or adapt.
Either way, I don't think either one of them is deserving of holding the belt at this time. Not that anyone else in the division really is either, but these two don't scream championship material to me.

Agreed.
James "Lights Out" Toney, is about the only interesting thing in the heavyweights..but only he fights Roy Jones...or takes on Ruiz.
I was really hoping to see JonesvsLewis. I think he would of kicked his ass.
