Wow, I remember seeing a story on the Tillman brothers during the playoffs last year and thinking how cool it was that he would be willing to give up a huge paycheck like that to risk his life and serve his country. That is incredibly honorable.

I couldn't put into words my thoughts of this. Granted he is no different than anyone else who volunteered to serve this country, except he turned down a big ass paycheck. He wanted no special treatment and aimed for the elite of the Army. That takes balls. In a day and age where so many sports "heroes" are looked upon with rose colored lenses, this guy is a true hero. Gave up everything to serve his country and paid the ultimate price for that service. Words can't express the gratitude and sorrow this country should feel for this man, or any other person who has fallen. As a former member of the Armed Forces, I salute him.
On a side note, I'd like to see the Cardinals pay his family the contract money he was offered.

My main reasoning for sharing this was that he turned down that all to serve his country just like so many other people rich or poor black or white do just the same.
I hear people talk about how it's sad that they are all over there when they dont have to be. I know for a fact that a number of them wanted to be over there. A year ago this month I listened to my cousin talk about joining the Army so he could go fight in Iraq or Afghanistan. He is in the Tikrit area right now. It makes me proud to know that there are people like this out there that will go willingly to serve their country. Because I know that I am too pussy to knowingly put my life at risk voluntarily.
