I have a friend who has fallen on some horrible luck the past few years. He was in a bad car accident that left him disabled and a few months later he father passed away. Really sweet family, nice people, who have fallen on hard times. His medical bills are mounting and his insurance has run out.

I'm trying to find out if there are any foundations out there that can help someone like him who are having a hard time with medical bills. Any ideas or advice is appreciated.
Contact Medicaid. He should also contact social security and disability. Im pretty sure all their contact numbers are fairly easy to acquire.
It may help if you define "disabled". Was it a head injury? Spinal? Amputee like someone mentioned? There may be different organizations for different disabilities.

Yeah Keyser, you dolt!! Be more specific.

I would recommend "Charity Care" to help pay for the injuries but thats income-based; you gotta be really po' to qualify for it.
he was a passenger in a car with 3 friends who all were killed in the accident. he had multiple injuries to his chest and legs. he didnt lose any limbs, but he needs some surgery on his legs for nerve damage. he can't afford the surgery and his insurance wont cover it.
Okay, I'm thinking....

Nerve damage. Is he confined to a wheelchair or anything? Is he still hospitalized? Require daily care? Can he work? Why won't insurance cover the surgery?

You could always organize a fundraiser...use your band as the draw and donate your fee to the family. I'm sure that would be appreciated.
we're actually working on that idea now, a fundraiser.
Throwing a party for him is a good idea. You can charge say, $20 a pop and try to get some of the stuff for free and you might be able to make some money for him.
my girlfriend owns a bar downtown, we're gonna do an open bar night and the proceeds will go to the charity.
