actually, game pads suck - as do auto-aim enabled games.

Use the fucking arrows. Enter to jump, shift to walk, Ctrl to crouch, and the number pad to select weapon, big 0 to reload and insert/delete for the two types of grenades.
And fuck any PC gamer llama who starts playing Socom-2 condole game online. Dumb ass pussy. Nothing like downgrading your video output so you can frag a bunch of high schoolers.
the thing is, if you were mainly a PC gamer, moving to a console and having to learn all kinds of stupid stick/button combos too pull off moves is a pain. similarly, only being a console gamer and moving to a PC where having everything assigned to buttons can be daunting as well.
The point is, it seems that people who adapted to one way cant deal with the other way, and vice vera. I get the same shit from all of my friends, save for one who is happy using both methods. I think this is one of those "fights" that will never get resolved.
game pads are great for Madden.
Mouse look and keyboard move is great for FPS.
RTS just plain suck.

You hit the nail on the head.
PCs games are ten times better looking then some console could ever hope to be.
However, the console with all of it's problems, has an "equalizer" with everyone using the same basic set up (i.e. same crappy video/controls).
I don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on the best video card, monitor or mouse to kick ass.
I did buy a special controller for SOCOM II that resolves some of the issues with L3/R3 and it does make a difference in playability. All for the better I might add.
In the end it always comes down to each his own.
