I don't know why folks continue to make a "console vs. PC" debate.
When a console is built, that's it. Games are made based on that current technology, and when games get too advanced, guess what happens? A new console is built to accomodate them. You are acting like you don't upgrade. You don't? So none of you will buy the impending PS-III whenever it's created, wiil you?
Here's a quick list (tell me if I miss any):
Sega-- Master System, Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, Saturn, Dreamcast.
Nintendo-- NES, Super NES, N-64, Gamecube
Sony-- Playstation, PS2 (PS-III is confirmed on the way)
The truth is, you "upgrade" your consoles roughly every 3 years or so, which is about the same time a PC user has to upgrade his or her system.
The only difference is that my PC has better backward compatibility (I can still play many-- not all, but many-- DOS-based games if I wanted to), can play DVD's, surf the Net, play or edit videos and music, create documents and templates.
Oh, if I really wanted to play a "console-exclusive" game on my PC, they have emulators that can handle that for me too. It's like having a Genesis/Gamcube/PS2 all-in-one.

Brain - I don't think whats going on here is a "console v. PC debate" ...more like Sony vs nintendo...
also - show me a Gamecube emulator, I'll show you Nintendo shutting it down.
and I hear ya. I only own Gamecube BUT...I love my MAME as well. :backflip:

Ahhhh, true, but a PC is not as portable as a console, if Im headed out on vacation, I can bring my PS2 for those rainy days when theres nothing to do at the shore. Plus a console doesnt have HALF the problems a pc has, not the crashing, the chance of getting a virus, no locking up. Ill keep my pc for the internet, work, and other things. I only play games on my console.

Remember, most laptops these days have faster procsessors than any console, better graphics and audio cards, and USB ports for controllers, and can do everything that a PC can do that I listed above. In many respects, some versions of today's laptops can be replacements for the ol' desktop.
EDIT: A console doesn't lock up, or experience slowdowns? Since when? Isn't there a reason why they all have reset buttons located on their sides? I certainly recall using those on my Genesis or NES back in the days.
As for getting a virus, it will become more and more possible as consoles move to constant online broadband connections. You think it's easy to hack into a PC? Imagine the feeble defenses a console will offer.

Like I said, for me personally, I prefer to play on a console and keep my pc for work and the internet.

ah, but is there anything better than getting into a car in GTA3 and hearing "Charles Heston damns NY traffic" or maybe a nice 90 minute show?
Plus if you buy Half~Life for a PC, you get 500 other games free. H~L for PS is just H~L.
